Chase’s Ultimate Reward is no longer the great deal it was
A few days ago, in the post titled “Chasing Harry Potter,” I showed an incredibly good deal for those looking for single day Universal Studios tickets. At the time, you could redeem 5,000 Ultimate Rewards points for each Universal Studios 1-day, 2-park ticket. Those tickets usually cost $120, so this redemption gave you an excellent value of 2.4 cents per point. In that post I speculated that the 5,000 point offer wouldn’t last long because it was most likely a mistake. And, thanks to a reader pointing this out, as of today the redemption price for the same ticket has jumped up to 12,000 points. That gives it a current redemption value of only 1 cent per point. You’re better off simply redeeming your points for cash rather than doing that.

We jumped on the 5,000 point offer… thanks to your post about the great deal. We loved getting that bargain… they mailed the tickets right away and they don’t seem to have an expiration date! Thanks for saying that it was probably a mistake and wouldn’t last long!!
