Hundreds of Free Ultimate Rewards Points!

26

This deal is only good through Saturday Feb 25th, so act fast!

OK, so this isn’t as good as last week’s similar offer, but hey free points are free points. The idea is to go through the Ultimate Rewards Mall to Staples.com. Once there, buy a “Free After Rebate” downloadable software product for $79.99. You will get 4 points per dollar from the Ultimate Rewards Mall and another 5 points if you pay with your Chase Ink card or another 1 point if you pay with any other point earning credit card. This means that you will earn 720 Free Ultimate Rewards points with your Ink card or 400 points with another card.

Staples has an amazingly easy “Easy Rebate” system. Once you purchase the software, they send you a rebate link via email. You click the link, fill out a little bit of info and you’re done.  Note that you will have to wait a while, though.  It may take as much as a few months to receive your check.

Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Go to Staples via the Ultimate Rewards Mall:

Step 2: Add one copy of QuickBooks Online SimpleStart 2012 for Windows or Mac to your cart:

TIP: Search for item 369783

Step 3: Check out

TIP 1: If you have a Chase Ink card that gives 5X for office supplies, use it!

TIP 2: Your state may charge sales tax. If you know someone in a state that doesn’t charge sales tax for internet orders (CA, NH, etc.), then set their address as the delivery address and no tax will be charged. This is a download only purchase anyway, so nothing will really be delivered. I picked “deliver to store” and picked a store in California that I’ll be close to on a trip next month. Of course, there won’t really be anything to pick up.

Step 4: Submit Easy Rebates

You will receive an email from Staples with a link in it for submitting the rebate form. It’s easy!

TIP: The software rebate can be changed from a Visa gift card to a check! See screen shot:

Drugstore.com is currently offering 20% off Beauty products with code BEAUTY20 * 5x UR points + Free Shipping over $25 or 2-day via Shoprunner. Not as good as free points but if some are looking to restock on toiletries they can’t obtain from hotels 😉 , now is a good time.
There’s also other things you can combo it with like $15 Visa giftcard for $50 spend on certain Proctor and Gamble products http://www.drugstore.com/user/promo.asp?code=1459325E&trx=29984&trxp1=120986&trxp2=4

MJL: Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll try to get a blog post out this coming week about that.

BF

I just checked my rebate status again today and it says now: Invalid product rebate has exceeded limit. What do I do now?

FrequentMiler

BF: Did you buy more than 1 copy? If so, have you tried calling Staples to see if you can cancel your extra orders?

Carl

Is the merchant category code of the online Officemax coded as office supply store? I have found with Chase that when purchasing from an online merchant, the merchant category may be different. For example, when i purchased online from Sears and Macy’s, i did not get the Chase Freedom department store bonuses.

FrequentMiler

Carl: I don’t have first hand experience with this, but yes I’ve heard that OfficeMax online purchases correctly give 5X for Ink credit cards. For Sears and Macy’s you should consider contacting Chase to get them to pony up the points you were due.

Eric

Are these one per household, or can my wife do this as well with her sapphire card – same billing address as mine.

FrequentMiler

Eric: I believe it is per household

Piecerate

Easy sneezy. Staples emailed this morning to say the rebate is processing. Thx for the heads up.

Qing

ShopDiscover does not offer cashback for SOFTWARE purchase if you read their fine print.

Jaybirdhgr

ShopDiscover also offers 5% cash back at Staples. Not as good as Ink but same as UR otherwise.

Anne

Yay! I missed the last one, too.

Krystle N

Thank you!! I was too late for the last purchases but was able to take advantage of this one. Great post and keep them coming!

Peter S

These deals are simply amazing. I love it.

Asar

Any non-business card that offers extra points for Staples purchases?

FrequentMiler

Asar: not that I can think of

Jenny

Thanks!! You are the BEST!

Steelsnow

It was about 6 weeks turn around last month (which ran over the Christmas holiday). I think they do this to confirm the purchase with the manufacturer, and to help prevent anyone from getting too crafty and collecting the rebate and also returning the item(s).

Syed

Do I get the extra 5 points if I use the Chase Sapphire Preferred card?

FrequentMiler

Syed: No, only the Ink cards offer 5 points per dollar at office supply stores. With the Chase Sapphire Preferred you’ll get 4 points from the UR mall, 1 point from the card itself, and then a 7% dividend bonus at the beginning of next year (7% of 5 points = .35 points).
