A cool device at the LaGuardia SkyClub
I visited the Delta SkyClub at the LaGuardia airport on my last visit to New York, and found an interesting device there, called a “Swash”:
As far as I can tell, it seems to be like a mini automated dry cleaner. Put some clothes in, add a little Keurig-like Swash Pod cup, and then 10 minutes later your clothes are like new. Or, at least, that seems to be the idea. I wanted to try it, but didn’t have any clothes with me other than what I was wearing, and didn’t think others in the Sky Club would be too happy if I put those clothes into the gadget. Anyway, it seems like a great idea (the Swash, that is, not the idea of standing naked in a Sky Club). If it works, I’d love to see these at hotels. Has anyone tried one? Did it work?
Best use of Singapore miles

Southwest 50K lives
A reader alerted me that a Chase Southwest 50K offer has resurfaced, so I’ve added the link to my Best Credit Card Offers page. Unfortunately, I’ve only seen a link for one of the 4 types of Southwest branded cards so this might not be the best time to go for the companion pass, as I detailed here. However, if you simply need 50K points as an easy way to get around the country, the offer is worth a look.
Citi Prestige 60K
Speaking of credit card deals, MileCards reports that there is a 60K in-branch offer for the Citi Prestige card. And, yes, you can transfer these points to Singapore Airlines. Or, use the points to buy AA or US Air tickets for 1.6 cents value per point. If you have a Citi Gold bank account, your annual fee will be $350 instead of the $450 fee charged to everyone else. When you factor in the $250 airline credit (starting in 2015), that’s actually a pretty good deal. Keep in mind, though, that some of this card’s best features, such as flight points, are soon on their way out.
Awesome Alaska Airlines same day change policy
I haven’t experienced this myself, but Just Another Points Traveler tells a convincing story about how awesome it is that Alaska Airlines charges only $25 for same day confirmed changes. She was able to book a super cheap award when award space was available (using British Airways Avios) and then pay $25 to change to the flight she really wanted. Read her story here.

I’m headed thru LGA in two weeks. If I can pry myself out of the Centurion lounge long enough to hit the SkyClub en route to my flight I will bring a shirt and run it thru the machine. 10 or 15 minute cycle is good for a drink and some pretzels and best of all some pics of the machine in use.
Thanks Graydon. Please let me know how it goes if you try it. One thing: my guess (just a guess) is that it is a temporary exhibit in the SkyClub so there is some chance that it won’t be there anymore.
Many international arrivals lounges have pressing services for your clothes. The AA arrivals lounge at Heathrow, for instance, you go take a shower.. put your clothes into a pass-through compartment in the door, and push a button to signal the attendant. They take the clothes out the front of the door, press your clothes, return them, and you take them out of the inside of the door when you’re done with your shower.

What a coincidence that you’d (and Angelina would) write about the Alaska same day change policy. My parents just returned from a trip to Alaska where I had booked them AS + WN (on avios and rapid rewards points). I saved them $1900 real dollars (they had booked a flight and then I quickly found award seats before the 24 hr cancellation period ended). They ended up with some odd flight times because of combining airlines and also a short revenue AS flight just before their return award ticket. So, they were meant to have a quick flight from petersburg to juneau and then an all day wait until a flight back to SEA late at night. But they asked in Petersburg about taking an earlier flight from juneau and the woman at the desk told them they could change to a more convenient flight for $25 instead of sitting at the airport all day. I think that they also got out of paying a baggage fee, because intra-Alaska flights don’t have a checked bag fee, and they were checked through.
Awesome policy and great customer service to help my parents figure it out, even though they had no prior knowledge of such a policy.
