Through the AAdvantage eShopping Portal, Sears is currently offering 9 miles per dollar. Terms & Conditions do allow gift cards so it is possible to buy an e-gift card (or, better yet, reload an existing gift card) to get 9X, then go through the portal again for another 9X!

Sears gift cards CAN’T be used to purchase gift cards. So what is it you propose purchasing with the gift card for the second 9X run through?
Instead of going through the portal again you can go in-store and purchase MasterCard GCs to liquidate. That’s YMMV though. Otherwise, if you don’t need anything from Sears then reselling is your best bet.
The purpose of the double dip is to get double rewards for Sears purchases. Of course, you need to have something you want to buy or to resell for the double dip to be worth it.
Noob question, but how do you unload Sears gift cards?
Use them to buy things (including other gift cards in person at Sears)
