I did this today. As an added bonus, I added the $10 off when purchasing grocery for $75+

Go to your Just For You page in the Safeway page and look for special offers or special events. It is there as I used it this morning with no problems other than stupid employees. WA State here
Thanks very much! I got it. $500 ones are cash only. The $100 can be paid with CC but the fee is not friendly, however the 5% cb card would work. Are there better options beside those two GC amounts?
Just do math! Buy TWO $100 cards if the store does not have $50 cards. You end up a little ahead and get points.
US Bank issued GC, no problem loading.
