  1. OK, how does this work now with the Chase 5/24 rule apparently in effect for United co-branded cards? If you are targeted for the 70K but you’ve had more than 5 cards in 24 months, does the fact that you’ve been targeted trump the 5/24 rule, or would you still be denied for the card even though you were targeted?

  2. Oddly enough, the 70K offer showed in a little teaser in the corner of my screen when I was heading towards the mielageplus shopping portal. I clicked on it, it told me to log in, and then once I was logged in, the landing page loaded with the 50K offer?! Annoying.

  3. I am targeted for the 70k offer and I currently have the card, but it’s been open since 2012, so I don’t run afoul of the 24 month bonus rule. Can I get the bonus if I cancel it today and then wait how long to apply? Offer page says expires June 30.

    TIA

  4. Shawn or someone, same question as Chris.

    Chris says:

    • Many with the same question, Have to wait for some brave users to get back with a response

      • I can say what happened to me. I was targeted, applied and denied in my reconsideration call because of too many applications in the past 2 years. I’ve had 6, I believe.

        • I was targeted, applied and got denied. Called reconsideration line and was told I had too many new accounts (rep told me 6 in past 2years). I tried to play dumb and pretend I didn’t know the 5/24 rule applies to this card, but that didn’t help. I called back again spoke with another rep, same story. I even went to chase bank and had my personal banker fax additional info to have my application reconsidered. Still no luck.
That’s my story, the 5/24 rule seems strict.

  5. I was targeted and I have this card open, is there anything I could do to get something out of this? I know likely not the 75k, but do you think I could I get some bonus miles or something if I call?

    • No you won’t be eligible for a bonus if you currently have the card. I am not aware of any exceptions to this rule.

  6. I was targeted for the 70k and went pending. Called in and was also told too many new accounts, I had 19 🙂

Hey for 70k it was worth a shot.
