[Expired] Free one year luxury hotel benefits membership

Leading Hotels of the World, an association of luxury-oriented hotels, is offering a free one year membership in their Leaders Club in conjunction with Diners Club International.  The membership, which typically costs $150, includes benefits such as complimentary continental breakfast, a free night after every 5 stays, and Sixt Platinum Status.  You can register here or by clicking the image below:

As you can see, the benefits are decent:

The email verification seems to only check whether your email address has been associated with a Leaders Club account in the past.  The terms and conditions indicate that the offer may have been targeted, but do not mention any requirement to be a Diners Club account holder.  I have never had a Diners Club account and I was able to successfully register.

  1. One thing that stinks about Leader’s Club, according to their T&Cs:

“Only stays booked on public rates by Leaders Club members or their travel advisors are eligible for Leaders Club benefits. These stays must also be booked through an LHW channel (LHW.com or via voice reservation) and the member’s Leaders Club number must be referenced to be eligible for Leaders Club benefits.”

It wouldn’t hurt to try, but I think this nullifies the opportunity to stack Leaders Club benefits with Citi Prestige 4th night free, booking with bank points, or other online travel agencies.

    • I certainly don’t know that you’re wrong, but the phrase “or their travel advisors” indicates to me that the Prestige benefit may not be impossible to stack. Most (but not all) loyalty programs require you to book direct to receive benefits these days. However, reservations made through the Prestige concierge (or Fine Hotels & Resorts) are often categorized differently than reservations made through OTAs like Priceline, Expedia, etc. For example, I had no problem applying a Hyatt DSU to a 4th Night Free booking. I’ve also received points/stay credit/loyalty benefits from Ritz-Carlton and Hyatt when booking through FHR. I don’t believe either would be true if I’d booked through an OTA.

Again, I have no experience with Leaders Club – but a general rule of thumb is that if your travel professional allows you to enter your loyalty program number into the reservation, it often earns benefits. I think it’d be worth a shot with Leaders Club, but I can’t guarantee success. If you try it, please let me know how it works out.

    • When you book with Citi Prestige, they’ll book through the channel you specify. So, you should be able to get them to book through the correct website in order to get both benefits.

  2. Oh man, too rich for my blood. Free breakfast is nice but for $500 a night I can stay in a nice SPG property and still have $300 left over which would buy me one HECK of a breakfast at McDonalds. 🙂

  3. Registered for this without incident or problem. Just the afternoon I received an email with the following text:

It has come to our attention that you recently obtained a membership in our Leaders Club program through an offer that was intended for a special population. As you were not a legitimate recipient of this offer and accessed it through unintended means, your Leaders Club membership has been terminated as of 01 March 2017. 4. Just got this message. Hopefully the Sixt Platinum status will stay in tact.
