JetBlue Transfer Bonus + Sale from $34 / 1500 points

1

JetBlue has a fare sale going with prices from just $34 or 1500 TrueBlue points one-way. At the same time, American Express is offering a 25% transfer bonus, which will allow you to transfer points from Membership Rewards to TrueBlue at a 1:1 ratio. While not necessarily the most valuable use of Membership Rewards points, there are some opportunities for a cheap getaway whether on cash or points.

Fare Sale

JetBlue LGB-RNO

The Deal

  • Flights from $34 one-way (1500 TrueBlue points + $5.60)
  • See available routes here, though note that prices were lower-than-advertised on some routes

Key Details

  • Must book by 11:59pm Eastern Time tonight (May 3rd, 2017)
  • Valid for travel between May 9th and June 14th, 2017. (Blacked out 5/24/17-5/30/17)
  • “Blue fares” do not include any checked bags

Quick Thoughts

Some of these prices are quite good, though most are only available mid-week (Tuesday/Wednesday). It’s worth clicking through on the routes that interest you as I did see slightly lower prices on several routes I checked.

Transfer Bonus

JetBlue Transfer Bonus

The Deal

  • 25% bonus when transferring from Amex Membership Rewards to JetBlue’s TrueBlue
  • Transfer 250 Membership Rewards points and receive 250 TrueBlue Points

Key Terms

  • Valid through May 31, 2017

Quick Thoughts

TrueBlue points are worth about 1.5 cents towards the cost of airfare. With this transfer bonus, you can send Membership Rewards points to JetBlue at a 1:1 rate. That’s far from the most valuable use of Membership Rewards points, but isn’t a terrible deal, either. If you also hold a JetBlue Plus credit card, you should also receive a 10% rebate on redeemed points, increasing your per-point value a bit.

Final Thoughts

Paying a sale price always beats the regular price. If you can find dates and routes that work for you, there are some opportunities to save a few bucks, especially considering the fact that the sale is for close-in (May and June) travel. For those who previously loaded the Amex Offer for $40 back on $200 at JetBlue (highly targeted and no longer available), the prices could get even better. While I don’t think I’ll be transferring Membership Rewards to JetBlue, I can imagine that ~1.5 cents per point might be enough for some to consider moving points to take advantage of the sale.
