Hyatt has a great promotion out at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos all-inclusive property: get a 4th night free + 10,000 bonus Hyatt points. Better yet, this stacks with the new Citi Prestige 4th night free! This makes for a substantial discount over promotional rates (and a huge discount over “standard” rates), with 10,000 Hyatt points being some sweet icing on the cake.

Hyatt has sent out emails promoting a sale at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos. The email leads to the splash page shown below.
If you haven’t received the email, don’t fret: you can enter promo code 10KSJD to access the sale rates. I looked up a stay from August 22nd-26th, 2017 and it returned the following rates:
As you can see, the Ocean View Master Double rate of $258 is both 55% off of the “standard rate” and includes a “4th night free“. Of course, other room types are available at various rates (which will no doubt change with dates). Continuing to the next page, we can see that the fourth night is indeed listed as free ($0):
Stacking it with the Citi Prestige 4th night free
Under the old Citi Prestige 4th night free benefit, this sale wouldn’t have been any good. When the Prestige 4th night free benefit was based on the actual 4th night cost, there wouldn’t have been a rebate on this stay (since that 4th night cost is $0). Under the new system, where the benefit from the Citi Prestige is calculated as the average cost of the 4 nights, this looked like it could stack for an additional discount. However, it requires the use of that special rate code (10KSJD). While I’ve had no problem stacking the Prestige 4th night free with AAA rates in the past, I didn’t know if it would stack with this 10KSJD promotion. Furthermore, I knew I wouldn’t be able to book it online as I wouldn’t be able to use the Hyatt promo code through thankyou.com. I called the Prestige Concierge (see our Complete Guide to Citi Prestige 4th Night Free for more on doing this).
When I called, I gave the rep the hotel and dates and rate code. He pulled it up successfully, but when reading the rate information, he said that I could not stack the Citi Prestige 4th night free with it. He explained that the hotel was already discounting the room and giving a 4th night free so I was “basically already getting a big discount”. He said that they could apply the 4th night free to another rate. Based on the way he said it, I thought it sounded more like he was saying what he thought made sense rather than something written in stone. So I pushed back a bit: “Since the 4th night free is now based on the average cost of the 4 nights, shouldn’t I qualify for a rebate based on the average-per-night?” He said he would have to put me on hold. When he came back, he confirmed that you can indeed stack the Hyatt 4th night free promo and the Citi Prestige 4th night free and get back a fourth night’s cost based on the average rate. In this case, Hyatt doesn’t list the taxes. He started to give me a number and then said hold on while he checked on the taxes. A minute later, he said I would “basically get $258 back”.. I’m not sure whether that’s “basically” as in he didn’t know what the taxes were or basically as in Hyatt doesn’t list taxes separately on this and I’ll actually get $258 back (or does Mexico just not tax hotel stays? Haven’t ever been!). In reality, I’m not going to Mexico — this was just an example.
Anyway, that means that a 4-night stay would cost just $771.53 if it indeed works out to be 75% of the total shown above. That works out to a grand total of less than $192 per night for an all-inclusive property. What’s more, you’ll also get 10,000 Hyatt points, PLUS the Hyatt points you would normally earn on the full $1028.70 that you pay out of pocket (before receiving the Citi Prestige rebate later). A general member will earn more than 5,100 Hyatt points on the room, with a Globalist earning over 6,600 points on the room rate. Together with the 10,000 bonus points, that’s a really nice return on the stay combined with a great rate. Even if you only value the Hyatt points at 1.5 cents each, that’s darn near the value of a paid night.
Bottom line
This promo provides a very nice value on the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos on its own. A rate of $258 a night plus 10,000 Hyatt points is already pretty strong — pairing it with the Prestige 4th night free makes it an excellent deal. Unfortunately, the terms and conditions aren’t coming up with the dates for this promotion, so I do not know how long it will remain valid. If you’re thinking about a beach getaway south of the border. this looks like a great option. As always, shop around with your dates to be sure you’re getting the best possible deal.

Looks like they have updated the offer to no later than Oct 31st. Earlier I did a test and could do a December booking.
I booked a room for October and when I called to verify if my booking is eligible for 10k bonus point, the agent said there’s no bonus points associated to my reservation, only 4th night free. Phone agent can’t book the room with the offer code as well so I had to book it online. But I’m not able to get the 10K bonus pt is a bummer. I don’t know how to get it as well. Can you advise? Did you book through the Prestige Concierge over the phone with the 10KSJD code? I was able to book that with a phone agent. If an agent said they couldn’t, I would try to HUCA (hang up, call again) and speak with another agent. I assume the 10K part of that code = 10,000 (the bonus points), so that code would be the key.

If you don’t have a Prestige card, you should be able to use that code on Hyatts website in the promotion code field. You wouldn’t need to book through an agent. I don’t believe the code was targeted.

Would it be possible to use the pooling of points between the premier and the prestige to use points to pay at the premier 1.25¢ rate (as discussed in the recent post)? I’m thinking not because to get that 1.25¢ rate, I think you have to book through the citi portal, and to get the 4th hyatt night avid 55%, you have to book through hyatt directly, right? If the 1.25¢ is not possible, would I be able to redeem at 1¢?
I believe you are correct — can’t get the 1.25c rate because you’re not booking through the portal online. After the stay, you could reimburse yourself with a statement credit at 1c per point.

I really appreciate all you wonderful contributions since joining the site! My wife and I actually had booked the Phu Quoc Marriott with one of our 7 night Marriott stays we got when we got the companion passes again (and had book Cathay 1st class as well!), but ended up having to cancel it as we found out she is pregnant with our 4th and Vietnam has Zika. We ended up doing Utah’s National Parks instead, but I’m hoping Phu Quoc stays a category 5 (and the Alaska redemption stays where it is) for next Spring Break/Summer!

Also, we’ve stayed at the Puerto Vallerta Ziva with 3 under 5 in the past (on Hyatt Free night and Ink Sign up bonuses) and it was an awesome experience (my 3 year-old proclaimed himself the “King of Kiddie Cocktails”.

If you ever do get to Phu Quoc, that hotel will be memorable. That said, I’m sure the Utah national parks are a memorable adventure as well. I enjoy seeing things around the world, but our national parks have some amazing sights here at home too.
RE: Taxes –
Called the good ol’ diamond desk number – Verified that taxes ARE INCLUDED IN THE RATE where taxes aren’t broken out on the confirmation page. Should be this way for all Hyatt all-inclusives – Los Cabos, Cancun, Jamaica, etc.
With the manual booking process, the Pretigee’s 4th night free wouldn’t work with multiple rooms at bookings that were adjacent to eachother. With the new online booking system, has that changed? If not, what if you booked one manually and one online, or two different room categories?
Anybody know the valid dates for this promotion? I tried in November and received this message: “The special offer or rate you have requested is unavailable during the dates of your stay”.

This promo is based on paid rates. Sounds like you’ve booked an award stay. Neither the free night promotion nor the Citi 4th night free work with award nights.
If you wanted to change things, I imagine you could cancel your award stay (check the cancellation policy) and book these paid rates. Of course, then you have to pay instead of staying for free. Depending on how you value your cash and your points, that might be worthwhile. However, I also understand that sometimes you just want to go on vacation without paying for it.
I just looked up paid rates for the same dates I used in the example, but adding a 10yr old child to the room (as you know, this costs more). The daily rate showed $309 with a total of $1234. Assuming you book through the Citi Prestige concierge for the 4th night free and you get $309 back for that, you’re looking at $925 for 4 nights (an average of $231.25). That means you’re redeeming 30K points for a room that would cost $231.25 (assuming you’re seeing the same rates for your dates). That’s a value of just over three-quarters of a cent per point. And that ignores the fact that you would also earn 15K+ points by paying for the stay.
In my personal opinion, I’d pay for that stay and save the points for a situation where the hotel were more money than I would otherwise be willing to pay. That said, if $231.25 is more than you’re willing to pay, maybe 30K is a solid use for you. It can be easy to get caught up in looking for the “perfect” redemption….but sometimes, the perfect redemption is the one that gives your family a free vacation. I’m not one to judge there.
Hopefully that’s some food for thought.

Taxes are pretty substantial in Los Cabos, 16 % vat, 3% occupancy. Also a 350 peso ($16)hotel tax per visit over 24 hrs is in the works. Tack on resort fees, and it’s a lot…
Isn’t the gang violence getting worse in Los Cabos? There was a police chase that ended with a shootout in the Ziva lobby according to this article in March.

Also stayed in Cabo (and cancun) (both on award stays). Headed back to PVR this winter. Need to call to see if I can get Hyatt;s “family rate” as we get several rooms for our extended family. Always happy at Ziva in Mexico.
