Chase is back with another promo to earn 10x at Walmart.com using Chase Pay on up to $325 in purchases per card. This is a terrific and popular offer that was available a couple of months ago — and it has returned. This offer is good on the Chase Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and Chase Sapphire Reserve cards based on the landing pages I’ve found. Angelina Travels reports that the offer is also good on the Sapphire Preferred, though I can’t seem to find the landing page for it. Note that this payout does not stack with existing payouts like 1.5x on the Freedom Unlimited or 5% back with the Freedom this quarter — but rather adds on to bring you to 10x/10% total. In fact, it’s worth noting that in the case of the Freedom card, this is really an additional 5% that stacks with the fourth quarter category bonus — if you have already maxed out $1500 in purchases for the category bonus this quarter, you’ll only receive 6% back on a Freedom card per the terms.

There are splash pages for each card — click each of the images below to go to the respective splash page with more info:

The Deal

  • 10x/10% back at Walmart using Chase Pay from 11/15/17-12/14/17

Key Terms

From the Reserve card as an example:

During the promotional period of November 15, 2017 to December 14, 2017, earn an extra 9 points on up to $325 in purchases at Walmart.com when you check out with your Chase Sapphire card using Chase Pay. The bonus points earned is in addition to the 1 point you earn on purchases at Walmart.com for a total of 10 points. Bonus points will post to your account within a week of the transaction posting, and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement and be available for use within 1-2 billing cycles. Purchases posted to your account with a transaction date during the offer period are eligible for this offer. Delays by the merchant, such as shipping, could extend the transaction date beyond the offer period. To qualify for this promotional offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This promotional offer is non-transferable. For more information about your rewards program, see your Rewards Program Agreement.

And from the Freedom:

During the promotional period of November 15, 2017 to December 14, 2017, earn an extra 5% cash back on up to $325 in purchases at Walmart.com when you check out with your Chase Freedom card using Chase Pay. The bonus cash back earned is in addition to the 5% cash back you earn on purchases at Walmart as a quarterly bonus category for a total of 10% cash back. If you do not activate your bonus categories, or you have already made $1,500 in combined purchases at Walmart and Department Stores this quarter, or you reach $1,500 in combined purchases at Walmart and Department Stores this quarter, you will only earn a total of 6% cash back on up to $325 in Walmart.com purchases during the offer period. Bonus cash back will post to your account within a week of the transaction posting, and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement and be available for use within 1–2 billing cycles.

Quick Thoughts

It’s great to see this one back and just in time for Black Friday sales. Last time this promo ran, it could be used up to the spending cap on each card — meaning that you could earn 3,250 Ultimate Rewards per card if you have multiple cards that qualify for this promotion — I expect it will work the same this time. That’s a great deal whether you’re buying items on sale this week or just looking for some gift cards (Walmart sells a variety online).

I made a purchase of items plus a $50 egift card and it went through fine with a Chase Sapphire. I then purchased some items and physical gift cards on 12/7 and it’s now 12/12 and the order portion for the physical gift cards still says pending. The items often take several days to be marked as shipped and charged. Are they blocking gift cards from Chase Pay?

Will work if use another portal to shop at Walmart.com?

[…] this offer certainly isn’t as strong as the current offer to earn 10x at Walmart.com with Chase Pay, it’s still great to add an additional point on your purchases if you have exhausted the caps […]

Also, I noticed that Ebates is offering 6% rebate now on walmart.com….. I sure hope they don’t cancel my gift cards I just bought (above the $50 limit)…. :/

Lila

Does any portal pay out for gift card purchase?

Brad Meyer

So, if I max out the $1500 in store before the end date of 12/14, that 5% is done. I can then spend the additional $325 with Chase Pay and get 6% on it?

Same problem here. Trying to purchase gift cards, but orders keep getting canceled. Chatted with 3 CS reps who claimed the security issue on my account was fixed and the orders should go through. Nothing has worked. Now Chase Pay isn’t functioning at checkout.

Would like to know if others have been able to buy e gift cards.

Rascal

1. You can only buy eGift card <= $50. Every eGift card transaction is cancelled if greater then $50.
2. Above strategy works only before you get fraud alert from Chase. Even though you clear that out with Chase, Walmart still declines any of your eGift transaction afterward.
3. From my experience, It's most of Walmart's issue. Walmart sucks !

For Walmart, the Chase Pay site says for “online” only (vs. in store like the other merchants). Does that mean that I won’t get the extra points (aside from the quarterly bonus) if I purchase in store using the Chase Pay QR code (specific to my Freedom card) generated from the app? Thanks!

Brad Meyer

I don’t even have a QR code for Wal-Mart on my Freedom card.

belinda

Tried to order twice. Once with established account and once with newly created account. Both egift cards. Both orders canceled immediately. Thanks Walmart!

belinda

I’m live chatting now….if rep puts order through will that negate chase pay???

belinda

Can’t process through chat must call. Hahahahahaha. Forget it.

CanalStreet

Got my order cancelled twice. Switch to incognito mode, Chase Pay wouldn’t work. Called Chase, but none of their suggestions worked. Then I created a separate Chrome profile, and that, along with Walmart chat support doing something on their end, finally made it work.

Hey Nick, Does Walmart GC qualify for this deal? Thanks!

Randy

I bought WM gift cards on 12/1 and used Chase Pay. Online it only shows a 5% bonus. Any chance the other 5% is still on its way, or did something go wrong? This was on Chase Freedom and did not bring me to the $1500 max.

Glen

It doesn’t specifically say “Chase Sapphire Preferred”, but a “Chase Sapphire” page exists:

https://wm6.walmart.com/chase-sapphire

Would that be it?
