Comments

  1. Updated the Delta Reserve Business card to accurately reflect the 10K + 10K MQM sign-up bonus.

  2. Added a note that the Wells Fargo Propel World card is now available in-branch only.

Added a Fidelity Rewards Visa $100 bonus offer.

    • Does the propel really still have the 40k points? I logged into my wells fargo account and could not find anything that mentions the 40,000.

  3. Added details of a potential Amex Premier Rewards Gold 65K offer. (40K 1st year and 25K 2nd year.)

  4. Removed the Citi ThankYou Premier since no known working link exists with a sign-up bonus.

    • Thanks I have updated the link with the current 50K offer. The 75K offer ended unfortunately.

  5. Just applied for 2 Barclays cards in one days and got 2 credit hits, so your notes don’t seem correct on that score.

A bit pissed as I wouldn’t have done it if I’d known.

    • A lot of these come with an implicit YMMV as this hobby tends to have a very dynamic environment; things change everyday. So get your panties out a bunch, stop whining and be appreciative of the wealth of knowledge that is provided in this blog.

      • Who’s whining? I just said I wouldn’t have done it if I’d known that. I am sure others would like to know my “data point”.

I applied for 4 cards today, 3 through this site and one I had to do in the bank branch.

I always use the links in this site and likely will always do so in the future.

If what I said sounded like a complaint about this site, it wasn’t.

If my comment helps someone else – then please take the time to reflect on your comment which added no value at all, in my opinion.

    • As Kevin Rees mentioned, it is common for the bureaus to combine the inquiries after the fact. I assume this was on your TransUnion report? Once you get an updated credit report, please check to see if they were combined and let us know.

  6. I have bother seen and heard that it can take days for a credit bureau to combine multiple inquiries into one. So what starts out as 2-3 inquiries on Wednesday ends up showing up as new inquiry by Saturday. So if you just gave this a try I would wait a few days before passing judgement.

  7. If you add a member at $50 does that give that person Admiral’s Club access and their own Priority Pass card?

  8. Added The Gold Card from American Express for Ameriprise Financial 25K after $1K offer and updated the Chase British Airways Visa from 75K down to 50K.

  9. I am curious about my situation with the Hilton Amex card.

I had one of these over 10 years ago. When I signed up for it there was no signup reward. Shortly after that Costco switched over to the AmexCC and I rarely if ever used the Hilton card. I cancelled the Hilton Amex card over two years ago as I had not used it for at least five years.

So…. if I signup for the Hilton Amex today, would I get the current reward?
Does anybody have any experience with this?

    • There’s almost certainly a time limit to “per lifetime” with the Amex offers, but we don’t know what that limit is. You might get the bonus, but I wouldn’t count on it if you cancelled less than 3 years ago.

  10. I’m getting an error for the MLB card:

    We apologize for any inconvenience.
The application you are requesting is currently unavailable.
This application may be unavailable for maintenance, development improvements, or this offer may have expired.

    • It seems like the $200 offer has died on that card. I have updated the link to the normal public $100 bonus offer.

  11. Added details of the Olympic Bonus for the U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Travel Rewards Visa and FlexPerks Business Edge™ Travel cards.

    • Yes, but it’s a good idea to do so at the end of the year (December, let’s say), so that all of the points post at the beginning of the next year. That way, once you’ve earned 110K points within a calendar year, you’ll get a companion pass good for unlimited flights for the rest of that year and all of the next.

      • From Southwest’s credit card : Bonus from applying new cards do not count toward 110K points for Companion Pass as per screenshot below.
        Please double check and verify:
“…Companion Pass Qualifying Points are earned from your revenue flights booked through Southwest Airlines, your points earned by making purchases with a Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Credit Card, and your base points earned from Rapid Rewards partners. Purchased points and points earned from Rapid Rewards program enrollment, tier bonuses, flight bonuses, and partner bonuses (excluding points bonuses earned on the Rapid Rewards Credit Cards from Chase) do not count toward Companion Pass….”

        • Actually, those terms exclude the points bonuses from NOT counting toward the companion pass 🙂

So, if you follow the double negative, the points bonuses DO COUNT!

Also, unless they changed it recently, they counted for me last year.

  12. Added the updated Ritz Carlton Visa Infinite 3 nights + 10K offer and the Crystal Visa Infinite 50K offer.

    • “Three Free Tier 1-4 night stays after $4K spend in first three months + 10K points for adding an authorized user.”

      it should be $5K spend

  13. Currently have the Chase Sapphire for personal and Chase Ink for business and love them both, since what I mostly care about it travel points. Looking for a great third card, probably to use for mostly airfare but also starting to get interested in hotel points. Considering Starwood and curious what else is out there.

    • I actually love the Sapphire and Ink cards for transferring points to Hyatt. It’s often possible to get great value that way. The problem, though, is that Hyatt hotels have a much smaller footprint than other big chains like Marriott, Hilton, and IHG.

The Starwood card is great. Points are valuable both for hotels and for transferring to airline miles. Long term it is unclear what will happen to the card (given Marriott’s acquisition of Starwood).

One of my favorite hotel cards is the Chase IHG card. It’s only $49 per year and after the first year it will give you a free night certificate each year good for any IHG property worldwide. So, you can use it at $800/night Intercontinental properties in London, Paris, or Sydney, for example. I wouldn’t use the card for daily spend, though, as the points aren’t nearly as valuable as Starwood or Chase Ultimate Rewards. Just keep the IHG card for the annual free night and other perks (Platinum status, 10% rebate on room awards)

  14. Added the following cards and offers:

Citi ThankYou Business 20K (In-branch only)

    Citi Expedia+ Credit Card 15K

    Citi Expedia+ Voyager 25K

  15. I just got my double cashback for the Discover IT card for the first year- AWESOME! Do you suspect that if I close the card, and wait a little, that I could requalify to get double cashback a second time for the Discover IT card again?

    • There is no direct landing page for the Plus card. If you scroll down on that page you will see a comparison of the Plus and Premier cards along with an application button for the Plus card. They hide the Plus card really well.

  16. I believe the 5% cash back version of the Wells Fargo Sig card is no longer available. I tried for it and they told me only the points version is available (still good but now has a 16 month wait time between applications to receive the 5X reward, sigh)

    • Thanks for letting us know. They seem to have replaced it with a mortgage cash back card that is different. I have removed it from the page. I’m glad the rewards cards are sticking around.

  17. Received AMEX Gold Business offer in the mail the other day. 50K for 5K spend, plus 12.5K points if hitting 7.5K spend and an extra 12.5K points if hitting 10K spend. Total of 75K points for 10K spend.

Just for the statistics since this page mentioned this offer last went the rounds in February.

  18. I had the no fee Hilton amex about 20 years ago. Kept it for many years, but probably closed it at least 10 years ago. I called them and inquired about qualifying for the bonus now, they looked up my records and said “no”.

  19. Those terms and conditions were in place when I picked up two cards and a companion pass 2 years ago. Almost everyone reports that the sign up bonus and spending count towards their companion pass, in spite of the T&C . Of course, YMMV

  20. Since I can’t use AMX at Costco any longer and don’t have any of the Chase Visa cards that earn UR, which card should I use? I have a Hyatt Visa and a Alaska Visa. I have been alternating since I value both of their points. Thanks in advance.

  21. Just clicked on your link to apply for Chase Hyatt but the offer is different than your description, so I passed for now.

FYI the landing page is $2,000 in 3 months for the 2 nights. Still 5,000 points for auth user. However, $75 annual fee NOT waived.

  22. When checking my Amex account online I see that I have 2 offers:
Business Gold Rewards Card — 75,000 MR points after $10k spend in 3 months
Business Platinum Card — 75,000 MR points after $15k spend in 3 months

I’ve never had a business card before. I currently have Delta Gold and Optima Platinum (received a letter that Optima will convert to Amex Everyday card in November)

    • Where in your account are you seeing the upgrade offers? Is it toward the bottom in the Amex Offers, or is it in a thin banner that’s just below the top navigation?

  23. Shawn, did the table views on this page change recently? I no longer see the current sign on bonus or the historical recent highest sign on bonus information. (I am using Firefox 48.0.2 on Windows 10 in case this is a browser glitch).

    • Shawn, do you know if Arrival+ is still churnable? Also, did you know this page doesn’t have a check box for new comment notification?

  24. The links for both of the Citi Hilton cards bring you to an application page that only shows an error message of “A system error has caused a delay in processing your application.”

  25. Hi Greg – l am trying to get information on the best card or cards to get for a reward flight from CA to Maui to The Big Island and back to CA. Can you help me or point me to someone who might be able to provide me some guidance?
    Thanks,
    Freeman

  26. When I clicked through your CreditCards.com link, I noticed the Upromise card is now up to a $100 bonus.

$100 Cash Back Bonus after first use of card within 90 days of account opening
Earn up to 10% total cash back as a Upromise member when you use your Upromise MasterCard on eligible purchases at online retailers and travel partners through Upromise.com

    • I follow the FT thread and lately many people have been denied an AS card for 1) having any existing cards, and/or 2) having “too many inquiries in the past 6 months”.

They definitely seem to be tightening the noose.
