Chase Offers enforces gift card terms (sometimes)

A few weeks ago I wrote about my plans for “Rocking Chase Offers: Staples, Lowe’s, Whole Foods.” The basic gist is this: Chase now has offers that are similar to Amex Offers, but currently only for Marriott and Slate cards.  My wife and I have four Marriott cards, combined, and so we registered all four with Chase Offers and activated offers for Whole Foods, Lowe’s, and Staples.  Then we proceeded to buy gift cards at…

Discounted iTunes gift cards at Costco; stack w/ coupon?

Costco is again offering discounted iTunes gift codes. The $100 denomination is out of stock, but they currently have a $200 gift code for $164.99 or a $25 gift code for $21.59. Prices are valid through 12/16 or until they run out of stock. These deals might stack with a $25 off of $250 coupon, which have been widely available at Costco customer service counters. Alternatively, I got a coupon code just by chatting with support and asking for one (or you may…

Easy points: 3% off Five Back Visas, stack with 1% portal rewards

Giftcardmall is offering a terrific promotion that I’m sure won’t last: 3% off Five Back Visa Gift Cards (scheduled for 12/7-12/9, but I wouldn’t bet on it lasting longer than a day). That’s a nice deal that doesn’t come around often. Unfortunately, Giftcardmall can be a hard nut to crack — like Chuck at Doctor of Credit, I can’t seem to get an order through with them. If you can, you’ll come out ahead on these cards no…

Uh-oh: Some SVM gift card transactions coded as cash advance

If you’ve bought gift cards in the past few days from SVM on eBay, keep a close eye on your credit card statement: Doctor of Credit reports that some SVM gift card transactions (perhaps from 12/4 onward) were coded as cash advances – incurring an instant fee and interest with your issuer. For their part, SVM is claiming that this is due to an error on PayPal’s end that switched their merchant services category, causing the transactions to…

Gift cards: Save on Amex, iTunes, Google Play, restaurants, and more

There are a number of popular gift card deals advertised this week (and one unadvertised special below). Here are the gift cards on special this week — all expire 12/9/17: Rite Aid (weekly ad, page 6) With Rite Aid gift card deals, you earn the discount in the form of Plenti points, which can be used for future purchases at Rite Aid (though not towards prescriptions in my area at least), towards gas at Exxon-Mobil, towards…

[Expired] 10% off Target gift cards this Sunday

Update: This offer has been confirmed by Target. This Sunday, December 3rd, rumor has it that Target will be offering 10% off Target gift cards. Last year, the promotion was capped at $300 in gift cards per household, so it would be reasonable to expect a similar limitation once again. Stacked with 5% cash back from Discover (if you haven’t yet maxed that out), this would be a very good discount. If you’re in the first year of a Discover card,…

Limited-time gift card deals: Gas, food, coffee, Uber, and more

There are many gift card deals available today from Sam’s Club (see below for how to avoid the non-member surcharge) and eBay. The Sam’s Club offers would stack nicely with the new Amex Offer out for 5x at Sam’s (See: New offer for 5x at Sam’s Club (up to 1500 additional points) [Targeted]). Update: That offer is only available in–store and I believe these offers are online-only. Thanks to Chuck from DoC for pointing that out!  Here are some…
