Marriott MORE payouts increase; it might be worth another look

Yesterday, I published a post about the new Marriott MORE shopping toolbar/app. In that post, I concluded that I probably wouldn’t use it much. However, later on last night, I realized that I may have been too quick to judge it — this shopping rewards system might be worth another look. Rewards are variable In yesterday’s post, I noted that there were some inconsistencies across platforms. For example, I noted that Doctor of Credit reported…

You can now earn Marriott points for shopping online (but I probably won’t)

Marriott Rewards has announced Marriott Rewards MORE, which resembles a shopping portal, though it’s actually a browser toolbar, and for that reason I probably won’t be using it. There is an app, too — but there’s some bad news with that also. On the bright side, Marriott is offering 1,000 bonus points for signing up and using this new program to make a first purchase of $25 or more. More on what it is and where and how…

Uber now allows multiple destinations

Late last week, Uber introduced a new function in their app: you can now add up to two extra stops on your route to pick up friends at multiple destinations. This could be convenient when you need to pick up a couple of people. You can still split the fare, though only the full fare (you can’t split from a specific pick up point). To add multiple destinations, just hit the plus button as shown…

33% Transfer bonus to Hilton Honors

Hilton free night certs

Earlier this week, American Express began to offer a 33% bonus when transferring Membership Rewards points to Hilton Honors. At the normal ratio, you can transfer 1,000 Membership Rewards points to 1,500 Hilton Honors points. Through 12/15/178, 1,000 American Express Membership Rewards converts to 2,010 Hilton Honors points. That’s probably not a good deal unless you really need to top off your account. The Deal Get 33% more Hilton Honors points when you transfer from Amex Membership Rewards Key…

No more Starpoints for Uber from December 17

For the past couple of years, Starwood has had a partnership with Uber whereby you can earn Starpoints for spending with Uber. Earlier this year, SPG cut the rates at which you would earn points for Uber spend to just 1 Starpoint for ever $2 in spend. Unfortunately, the partnership will now come to an end altogether on December 17th. Today, SPG announced that the ability to earn Starpoints with Uber will end on December 17th, 2017 at 11:59pm…

Death of Digital Gifts: No more 5x

We received a report on Twitter that as of earlier this week, PayPal Digital Gifts is no longer earning 5x with Chase Ink Cash or Ink Plus cards. Unfortunately, this has been corroborated by data points on Reddit, Doctor of Credit, and in our Frequent Miler Insiders Group. A member of our Insiders group shares the following screen shot illustrating that this change appears to have happened on 10/17/17. Sadly, reports at Reddit and DoC…

United to send out digital / downloadable club passes

One of the benefits of the Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Card is 2 annual United Club passes. Those paper passes have always been mailed around your anniversary date. However, as has been reported elsewhere, Chase has started sending out mailers indicating that beginning in November, passes will be sent digitally. Here’s the letter I received today: As you can see, the letter indicates that the club passes will be automatically added to my MileagePlus account…

Fairmont free night certificates are posting

Earlier this year, the Chase Fairmont Visa Signature card was discontinued (See: Bye bye Fairmont card. I hardly knew ya). Greg wrote about how to maximize value with credit card spend before this card was converted to the Chase Sapphire Preferred (See: Rocking Fairmont credit card free nights and elite benefits). Part of that strategy involved spending $12K to earn an additional free night certificate. Recently, several readers have posted questions inquiring as to the…

Citi Prestige 75K is still alive

US Credit Card Guide is reporting that the Citi Prestige 75,000 point signup bonus offer is still alive in-branch through tomorrow. You would have to go in-branch to apply and they are showing a screen shot of a marketing material showing an end date of 10/7/17, so this is truly a last call. The online offer has already changed back to no signup bonus, so if you’re looking to take advantage of a signup bonus on the…
