Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business

CardSignup Bonus

The Marriott Rewards Premier Business card is a good choice for a nice signup bonus, and it can be a good choice to keep year after year if you can make good use of its annual free night certificate.  And, for those who chase Marriott status, the card’s 15 elite nights make the card well worth keeping.

I do not recommend using the Marriott card for spend (except to earn the signup bonus) because points earned with this card are not worth as much as rewards earned with many other cards.  Marriott Rewards points tend to be worth only about 3/4th of a cent each.  Most people would be much better off using a 2% cash back card or any of a variety of better rewards earning cards.

  1. I got a Marriott biz card last month. I’ve received my 80k bonus points, but i was pretty sure there was a 7500 point bonus for adding an authorized user and yet i did not receive that bonus.. CS says that bonus was only available for the personal card and not the biz card. Any idea if i was right or wrong?

  2. I applied for a Chase Marriott Premier Business Card and a Chase United Business Card on the same day. I immediately got an alert from Experian that there was a hard inquiry on my report. I though applications for business accounts didn’t count as hard inquiries?

    • Inquiries from business card applications do show up on your credit report, but the accounts do not. So if your cards are approved, they will not affect your 5/24 count (since that’s based on number of new accounts, not based on number of inquiries).

        • Did you call the reconsideration line? You can find the phone number for recon in the Chase section here:

Sometimes, Chase has just reached the maximum amount of credit they are willing to extend to you. If that’s the case, you may be able to call and offer to shift some credit from another card to get approved. For example, if you have a Freedom card with a $15,000 limit, you may be able to offer to move $5,000 from that credit line to the Marriott card to open that. Note that you can only shift personal to personal and business to business.

  3. I guess I should have read more carefully. The link you gave me to the Chase United Business Explorer card states the 5/24 applies.
