Presentation: REDbird Bluebird and Serve

Note: As of October 13, 2015, the Target REDcard (REDbird) can only be loaded with cash in-store at Target. Gift cards and/or debit cards no longer work to load REDcard. For more info, see: Here is the REDbird memo, “Cash is the only tender guests can use”

Note: On January 8, 2016 American Express sent out a notice to a large number of Bluebird & Serve cardholders informing them that loading capabilities on their accounts had been terminated. For more information, see: Amex kills Bluebird and Serve for manufactured spend

UPDATE: It looks like Amex Serve will no longer be loadable online with most credit cards as of April 16 2015. Amex issued cards will be able to be used, but won’t earn points. Those with Amex cards issued by other banks (e.g. Fidelity Amex 2% card) might still be able to profit from Serve online credit loads.

is there any stores I can buy a serve temp card to start with that will accept CC.

or does the first time have to be cash or order online….

Hi,
Thanks for all your research and posts about Redbird. It is very informative.
One thing I haven’t seen addressed: Can it be loaded (at Target) with an Amex credit card? I know that it is not advised to load Serve with an Amex card (though I don’t recall the reason). What about Redbird? If it is not recommended, what is the reason, and what is the worst case scenario?
Thanks again!

Greg The Frequent Miler

Yes, there’s no problem with paying for the load at Target with an Amex credit card. You will earn points. With Serve, you won’t earn points
