BJ’s Wholesale Club has $100 Hotels.com physical gift cards on sale for $84.99. Unfortunately, you have to pay $5 shipping. The good news is that the shipping charge is flat rate regardless of quantity — meaning you can buy (for example) three of these cards for $260 ($86.67 each).

Key Terms

  • Max quantity per customer of 3

Quick Thoughts

As noted in the key terms, Doctor of Credit reports a max quantity of 3, but I added 5 to my cart and the system allowed me to proceed to the final checkout screen without issue. Update: The max quantity of 3 is showing on the item page at the beginning of the description. Remember that you can combine Hotels.com gift cards here (choose the “balance transfer” option). This can be a good way to save some money on an upcoming stay as 15% can really add up when stacked.

Keep in mind that stays booked through third party agencies like Hotels.com typically do not earn points, elite credit, or get elite benefits (and in fact Hyatt Place is even eliminating free breakfast for those who do not book direct). That said, between 15% off here and the effective 10% back from the Hotels.com rewards program, you can easily eclipse the value of points/benefits (even without considering shopping portals and other promotions).

Be careful. I had purchased several Hotels.com giftcards and combined them. Two months later I learned value had been drained. Hotels.com reaction, “too bad”.

I only combine when I am ready to make a purchase, not in advance.

How were they drained because they were combined ??
