Quick Thoughts

I don’t think there are any gift cards left at Staples that lead to a payout when shopping through a portal (see our Laboratory for recent results). If you’ve got actual stuff to buy at Staples, this is nice return. That’s especially true since you could stack with 5x/5% back when using a card that earns one of the best category bonuses at office supply stores, like the Chase Ink Cash card.

Payouts at some other retailers on the list may also be attractive. Those with the personal Amex Platinum card could stack this with the semi-annual $50 credit for Sak’s Fifth Ave purchases and pick up some free and easy miles.

There is also a current Amex offer goof for $35 back on $175 or more at 1-800-Contacts that might make for a good stack.

All that said, make sure to shop around to be sure you’re getting the best deal, which includes checking the historical rates with a tool like CashBackMonitor. For example, while 10x at eBags is currently the highest mileage payout, the 15-month history shows that there hasn’t been a day in 15 months when you couldn’t earn at least 10x.

Overall, some decent deals if you’re doing some shopping today.
