Quick Thoughts
The email sent by Ebates on this one mentions “US Marriott Hotels” as shown in the screen shot above, though I don’t see an exclusion of overseas hotels in the terms on Ebates.com. In fact, they seem to specifically exclude certain foreign properties (which might indicate that other foreign properties are included after all). I imagine it likely works at worldwide provided you book at Marriott.com (or one of the other US sites depending on brand).
Note that cash back will be paid out after your completed stay. Stacking this with discounted gift cards or promo codes (if possible) might be a good way to save a nice chunk of cash on a paid stay. The advantage of a deal like this over discounted Hotels.com gift cards (which you’ll find in this morning’s Black Friday Deals post) is that booking direct should guarantee elite credit / benefits / hotel points. On the other hand, if you can save 20% with Hotels.com gift cards (and potentially earn Welcome Rewards), that might be a better deal — beauty is in the eye of the beholder on this one.

Re SPG properties — I’d like this to work, but I have my doubts — b/c even if you start on marriott.com, the domain that you actually book on for SPG properties is starwoodhotels.com — and eBates specifically lists SPG as a 0% partner (search “starwood” in the search box). Did anyone successfully receive starwood cash back when this promo ran in Oct?
If I already have hotel stays reserved do I have to cancel and then rebook or is there a way to add the ebates to the current reservations?
