Early today I covered the increased 100K offer on the Hilton HHonors Surpass card from American Express. It seems they also increased the bonus on their no annual fee Hilton HHonors card as well.

For those who signed up for a lesser offer recently: With past offers, the key has been not to ask for a match but to ask for a supervisor and then request a courtesy adjustment. They can’t match you but they do have the power to award points as a courtesy
Please clarify – I’ve already received the 70k signup bonus for Amex Hilton HHonors. If I now apply for Surpass, am I eligible for the 100k bonus? Or does the ‘once per lifetime’ rule exclude me from further bonuses with any Amex Hilton co-branded card?
The Hilton Hhonors no annual fee Amex and the Surpass are two different cards. You can get the bonus once on each card.
I tried to call Amex if they can match the offer (I had signed up for the 70k offer a month back). They said that they will not match the offer. I said I am a long standing customer with Amex. They told me to hold for some time and again got back with a NO…
I’m in the same boat and asked Amex to match via phone. They put me on hold twice (presumably while the agent talked to a supervisor) but ultimately refused to do it. That’s crap customer service, in my opinion, compared to other banks. I had actually planned to use the card on Hilton stays to help close the gap towards an award goal. It will be interesting to see if the Citi Hilton Reserve unveils an offer to match the Surpass. Hopefully there are more retailers like Costco that tell Amex to shove it – they deserve what they get.
I activated my card this morning, do you think they’ll match? Also a bummer since now I can’t apply for the higher Surpass bonus…
