staples visa rebate

Starting this weekend, Staples will run yet another Visa gift card rebate promotion.

The Deal

Buy $300 or more of Visa® Gift Cards get a $15 Visa Prepaid Card via easy rebate.

Maximizing

Generally with these deals it is best to use a Chase Ink card to earn 5X Ultimate Rewards points or an Amex SimplyCash card to earn 5% cash back at Staples.

The Rebate

The rebate is done completely online and the prepaid Visa rebate card is generally PIN-enabled with the PIN being the last four digits of the card number. There have been some reports lately of the PIN not working any longer, so YMMV.

Key Terms

  • Deal valid from 09-04-2016 through 09-10-2016
  • In-store only.
  • Limit 1 rebate per household.

You can find the details of the promotion in their upcoming weekly ad.

Tried 3 different PO today – all denied…

Max

Also had trouble with PIN on these cards today at the Post office – will try setting it manually as suggested above.

Radster

Max –

Others, (including myself), are reporting a more widespread issue with using VGCs to purchase USPS MO’s. Appears to include all VGCs (OneVanilla, Metabank etc) – Mastercard GCs still work.

Also appears to be location specific – in the past week, I’ve had trouble at one of five POs.

At this stage, no one knows if its a permanent hard-coding or a temporary glitch in the processing.

Best of luck!

Max

Thanks for the reply – it’s terrifying yet good to know it’s not me….

Max

Also – where did you see this – is there an FT thread?

Radster

Yes. FT.

livelovelaugh

The weekly ad in my area does not have the promotion this week 🙁

Sam

One per household = nor worth msers time…

dan

Not if one has 5

dan

The issue is to find the $200 vgc in stores

hk

True. I went two of my local staples today to buy something else and none of them has 200 or even 100.

Sam Dunnaby

5 would be enough to excite you? So youd be buying 1500 in GC (5 dif transactions), getting $10 in cash back for your efforts, and 7,500 UR points, and thats IF everything goes right. and yes, thats a BIG IF.

I tried filing a rebate for my business after filing one for my home, and staples caught me. Dont know how, but I assume it was by IP since I filed it under a different email address and mailing address….

Radster

Not IP. Name.

SDO

Yep, I can confirm its by name. I wonder if people with common names like John Smith are screwed with Staples rebates.

Barry

I bet that Staples can see the name and the last four digits of the credit card used. If these two match up, they’ll probably catch you no matter which address you use. I might suggest using different credit cards and see if that keeps one from being caught.

Sam Dunnaby

OH and my main point which I forgot to mention: if one has 5 households, I HIGHLY doubt 7500 UR points is getting him out of bed. Let that be my problem!!

SDO

unless you are a polygamist and have several households

John

Or have friends.

Barry

Or have a work address.

Sam Dunnaby

@barry dont know how but staples caught me when I did this at my business address… They sent me a postcard saying one per household. Im guessing it was by IP address.

CJ

I bet you did something like mix addresses or information between accounts, that s the only way they can really do that. if it is a different name, different address, different phone, different email, it is impossible…

Dave

I had an issue loading one of these VGCs from the recent OD/OM $15 off deal. The default PIN of last 4 digits was resulting as incorrect pin but it worked after I called the # on the back of the card and created my own pin

It would be so nice if they sold the VGC in $300 increments!!!

Mark

They do! But sadly only online.
