This transfer bonus opens up some nice possibilities for award tickets to Asia on ANA, an airline partner of Virgin Atlantic. Gary Leff at View from the Wing discusses ANA awards using Virgin Atlantic miles. According to the chart he has published, round trip from the North American cities served by ANA to Japan costs 120,000 miles Virgin Atlantic miles in first class — which would be about 93,000 Membership Rewards points given the current promotion. Business Class would be 74,000. The partner award chart with Delta isn’t bad either, depending upon whether or not fuel surcharges will be imposed. You can read a great overview of Virgin Atlantic partner awards here. The transfer bonus is on until May 22nd, giving you plenty of time to study the charts and examine availability.
