Hilton free night certs

Through October 4th, Amex has increased the standard offers of their two Hilton cards.  Keep in mind that you are not eligible for the signup bonus if you’ve had the exact same card before.  However, if you’ve had to no fee Hilton card before, you can get the bonus on the Surpass card, and vice versa.

Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express

The $75 per year Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card is currently offering 100,000 points after $3,000 spend in 3 months plus a free weekend night on your first card anniversary.  This matches the best offer I’ve ever seen on this card.

100,000 points is more than enough for a free night at any Hilton property worldwide if you can find standard room availability.  At the low end, Hilton hotels start at 5,000 points per night, so it is theoretically possible to get 20 free nights with 100,000 points.  And, since Hilton offers the 5th night free on award stays, it’s actually possible to get 25 free nights by booking five 5 night stays.  Of course, at most Hilton properties you’ll pay much more than 5,000 points per night.

Hilton Honors™ Card from American Express

The no-fee Hilton Honors™ Card from American Express is currently offering 75,000 points after $2,000 spend.  You’ll get 50,000 points after $1K spend within 3 months and another 25,000 points after another $1K spend within 6 months of opening the card.

This isn’t the best offer we’ve ever seen, but it’s very close.  The best previous offer was for 80,000 points after $2,000 spend.

I’ve had the card before. I didn’t see once per lifetime language in the T&C. Did I miss it? Can I get the offer again?

A family member just applied for the Surpass less than 10 days ago ( never had the Surpass). I wonder if Amex would match them to this offer. Anyone ever get Amex to match up to a better bonus if they applied recently for the same card? I know Amex can be hard to deal with about any points. My experience with them has soured over the years, but still would like to see something positive for my family member in this regard.

If you upgrade the no-fee card to the Surpass (upgrade offer is also the same as the signup offer) and then cancel after some time, does that prevent you from getting the signup bonus for the Surpass in future?

You mentioned that you might get the bonus again if it had been 7+ years since an Amex offer . Is that good with ALL AMEX cards, that is a Delta AMEX is well ?

I am a Hilton Honors card holder. Your application link for the Surpass card (upgrading from Hilton Honors card) contains no reference to the free weekend night. In addition to the 100k bonus does it include a free weekend night?
