Hyatt Award Nights Not Posting? Here’s What To Do.

4

At the end of 2017, World of Hyatt announced that award stays from January 1, 2018 would count towards status. These don’t seem to always be crediting correctly, so here’s what to do if you find yourself with zero qualifying nights for a stay.

Hyatt Place

We stayed at the Hyatt Place Columbia/Harbison SC from January 1 to 6. This was booked as an award stay as it’s a category 1 hotel and therefore only cost 5,000 points per night. We received points for charges to our room after the stay, so I didn’t think anything more of it.

After a subsequent five night stay at a different Hyatt Place (thanks to the Points + Cash sale), I noticed that we only had five qualifying nights for the year rather than ten.

When checking my World of Hyatt account, I realized that I’d been awarded zero qualifying nights for the first stay which was booked purely on points.

To remedy this, I sent the following email to worldofhyatt@hyatt.com:

Hi,

My member number is XXXXXXXXXX. I stayed at the Hyatt Place Columbia/Harbison from Jan 1-6 and it’s saying that I earned zero qualifying nights.

I’d read that award nights from Jan 1, 2018 qualify toward elite status, so would you mind updating my account to show the 5 additional qualifying nights.

Just 29 minutes later I received the following reply:

Thank you for message to World of Hyatt.

As per your request, I have posted the stay with five eligilbe nights for your stay at Hyatt Place Columbia Harbison to your World of Hyatt account number, XXXXXXXXXX.

I look forward to assist you further.

Logging back into my account, those five qualifying nights were indeed showing:

Hyatt Place 5 nights

It doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident as Shawn at Miles To Memories had a similar issue. He used Twitter to get the same issue fixed, so that’s another option.

This was a quick and easy fix, so be sure to check your account if you’ve had any Hyatt award stays since the turn of the year.
