Quick Thoughts

Every 1,000 Kroger Fuel Points will normally get you $1 off per gallon for up to 35 gallons (though the cap may vary regionally). Whether or not a promotion like this is a deal depends on your fuel needs. If I take advantage of a promo like this, I usually bring both vehicles and a gas can or two to fill up. If you drive a car with a small tank, Stephen illustrates how a promo like this might not offer the type of savings you can get elsewhere in his recent post about the coupon expiring today (See: Earn 4x Kroger Fuel Points On Select Travel Gift Cards).

However, even with a small gas tank, you might bring down the fees low enough on Visa and Mastercard gift cards to make them slightly profitable when paying with a card that earns one of the Best Category Bonuses at grocery stores.

I don’t see a list of what the participating gift cards are for the coupon on the left in the screen shot above, but I believe this should work on most third party gift cards. It could be a great deal on some of the more rarely discounted brands, especially if you can maximize your fill-up.

Keep in mind that fuel points expire at the end of the month after you earn them. That means any points you earn before the end of March will expire at the end of April and those earned in the last days of this promotion (early April) will be valid through the end of May. Be sure you can use the points in that timeframe.
