Quick Thoughts

This is a good discount if you’d be purchasing from Bloomingdale’s anyway. The current highest cashback portal rate is 10% with BeFrugal; several airline portals are also currently offering bonus miles for Bloomingdale’s purchases.

Gift card purchases aren’t excluded from this Amex Offer, so that’s another option. Depending on your reselling relationships, you might be able to earn a few dollars profit, plus the miles / points from your credit card. It’s always worth clicking through from a cashback portal, but data points from the Frequent Miler Laboratory in recent years suggest that you won’t earn cashback on gift card purchases.

If you plan on buying Bloomingdale’s eGift cards, be aware that they won’t arrive in your inbox immediately. That’s because one of the notes on the purchase page says:

Delivery is overnight, within 24 hours, subject to credit approval/authorization and barring any technical difficulties.

If you plan on purchasing physical gift cards by placing an order online, there’s a $2 shipping surcharge fee which will reduce / eliminate any profit you’d be making.
