The Alaska Airlines Visa Business Card is now offering an increased welcome offer of 42,000 miles (and the usual $99 + taxes companion fare) after spending $2,000 in the first 90 days. That’s an increase of a couple thousand miles. Given how valuable Alaska miles are, every little bit counts. Furthermore, some people are reporting receiving a second offer letter after approval to get $100 back after spending $500 on the card, so it may get even better (but YMMV).

Quick Thoughts
Again, Alaska miles are particularly valuable, making every extra bit you can squeeze out of the offer well worthwhile. The previous 40K offer was the highest we’d seen in my recollection. While this is only a couple thousand more miles, I’d always rather have more miles.
Keep in mind that BOA has been more finicky in approving business applications over the past couple of years. For example, even though my wife has business accounts with Chase, Amex, and Citi, BOA wanted her to open a CD in order to get approval for the Alaska business Visa (which she declined to do). I’ve heard of similar reports from others. This offer wouldn’t count against 5/24, so it certainly may be worth pursuing, but it may not be smooth sailing for approval.

To get to 42,000, the application link states “Plus get an additional 2,000 bonus miles when you apply today with an employee.” Does anyone know if one has to actually apply in person with a BoA / Alaska employee? Or, will it work to fill out the application via the link on my own?

Nick, how much did BoA want in the CD? I guess that’s a way (or their way) of ensuring you have an ongoing relationship with them (BoA).
I honestly don’t remember.
$1,500 – have to say that since AS miles are so much harder to collect nowadays and they can have out sized value. This is with a business with CC in business name as well (really silly) as we’ll as the grilling on about my business.
The CP is less valuable now that you no longer can book with CSR for travel protection/delay’s but have charge 100% on BofA AS card (with no protections). That plus CP is actually $196 tix, ($75 AF +$121 )
But hey 42K is almost a Int’l Biz seat (55k) on some partners.

Stopovers on partner airlines (effectively multiple vacations for the cost of one) are nice.

Sure. Here are just a few examples:
-First of all, they allow a free stopover on one-way awards
-55K one-way business class to Australia (can stop over in Fiji if flying Fiji airways or stop over in your Australian gateway and then continue on to another city in Australia — like fly LAX-MEL on Qantas in biz, stop in MEL as long as you like, then continue on to Perth or up to Cairns for the Great Barrier Reef just for examples.
-70K Japan Airlines first class. Again, free stopover on a one-way award means you could see two cities in Japan or stop in Japan on your way to some other Asian destination. Alternatively, on the way home, let’s say you’re from Los Angeles: “stopover” in Los Angeles and then “continue” with what is essentially a free one-way to New York or Boston 6 months later (or use your own creativity here).
-70K one-way Cathay Pacific first class. You could fly first class to South Africa with a stopover in Hong Kong for this price.
