In this weekend’s Frequent Miler week in review around the web, we highlight some great reads: from some fantastic airline redemptions to timely thoughts on the impact of different types of travel and more, read on for the weekend recap.
Does the use of the word “brilliant” in the title sound a little sensational and make you feel skeptical? I hope so, because after you’ve read this post from Prince of Travel, you’ll probably find yourself nodding your head and saying, “Well, that is pretty brilliant” more than once. Asia Miles deserve some attention, and this post will show you why. Keep in mind that availability is going to be the hurdle on some of the more exciting possibilities, but it’s not impossible to find with some effort.
Wherever you stand politically, if you enjoy reading unique and thought-out perspectives (whether or not you agree with them), you’ll enjoy this piece from Gilbert Ott at God Save the Points. It’s a timely piece as the FM team is about to head out for a lot of travel in the next week to ten days and it isn’t something we haven’t thought about. Again, agree or disagree, I think this one is an enjoyable read.
On a completely opposite wavelength, wouldn’t it be cool to join a yacht club? If you think so, you might enjoy this read from CNN Travel.
A few months back, I wasn’t properly credited for three rooms for which I paid at a Marriott property, so this post from Head for Points caught my eye. Did you know that you can earn points on up to nine rooms with IHG in some regions? See this post for more on where if you’re the type booking family trips with multiple rooms.
If you have some sort of ticket on LATAM in the coming months that involves travel on American, I feel very sorry for you. Not only do you have to contend with reliability issues that seem to have compounded over the course of the year with regard to AA operations, but now you’re caught in a spat between American and Delta. See this post from One Mile at a Time to see what AA and Delta are saying with some analysis from Ben to help you make sense of it. Business is business, it’s just a shame to see the customers caught in the middle.
That’s it for this week around the web. Check back soon for this week’s last chance deals.
