Overview

The Marriott Rewards Premier Business card is a good choice for a nice signup bonus, and it can be a good choice to keep year after year if you can make good use of its annual free night certificate. And, for those who chase Marriott status, the card's 15 elite nights make the card well worth keeping.

I do not recommend using the Marriott card for spend (except to earn the signup bonus) because points earned with this card are not worth as much as rewards earned with many other cards. Marriott Rewards points tend to be worth only about 3/4th of a cent each. Most people would be much better off using a 2% cash back card or any of a variety of better rewards earning cards.

Rewards

Marriott points can be redeemed for free night awards, travel packages, airline miles, or experiences. 5th Night Free Awards: When redeeming points for free nights, the 5th night within a single reservation is free. Airline miles: Points can be converted to airline miles at a rate of 3 points to 1 mile. A bonus is added on when you transfer 60,000 points at a time, such that 60,000 points transfers to 25,000 miles. Also, you'll get a 10% bonus when transferring points to United Airlines.

I got a Marriott biz card last month. I’ve received my 80k bonus points, but i was pretty sure there was a 7500 point bonus for adding an authorized user and yet i did not receive that bonus.. CS says that bonus was only available for the personal card and not the biz card. Any idea if i was right or wrong?

I applied for a Chase Marriott Premier Business Card and a Chase United Business Card on the same day. I immediately got an alert from Experian that there was a hard inquiry on my report. I though applications for business accounts didn’t count as hard inquiries?

Thanks. I will try that.

Called Chase this AM after closing 4 other cards. They told me that the 5/24 rule applied to all Chase accounts including business cards

I guess I should have read more carefully. The link you gave me to the Chase United Business Explorer card states the 5/24 applies.

hi gents: I’m about to pull the trigger and apply for this Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business, because i already have the personal version but need an extra 15 Elite Nights (and I’m seeing that they shouldn’t stack per Chase, but in practice they do). However, right now, if you apply for this card using your Links–or ANYONE’S links–there is no mention of 15 elite nights anymore, just “Automatic Silver Status” and “Pathway to Gold Status if you spend $50k). Am I out of luck? I’m a Marriott Silver now with 33 nights, and I need a 15 night boost – NOT an “automatic silver” that i already have. Please help!

I have the exact same question as Alexander. I want to use the sign up link for the 15 night credits toward elite, but am not seeing 15 nights anywhere in the T&C.

Thanks so much for confirming my question. I applied, and 1 week later, got a letter in the mail asking for “confirmation of business name” in the form of a utility bill or similar formal document. This I don’t have. It’s looking like my application will be denied any day now

I applied for this card and got the 30 day notice so I called in and talked to a rep. After answering questions about my business and my credit report, I was told they couldn’t approve the application. The rep said it was because I got two personal cards in February so not enough time has passed. I currently have 5 Chase personal cards and 1 Chase biz card (all within the past year). I also have other recent cards also. Is it worth calling in and trying to get this approved or will that draw more attention to my account and possibly lead to a shut down? I would use this card for my business (selling items on eBay and Amazon), but I was mainly getting it for the elite nights to get toward platinum before the program changes.

What do you think about applying for this card now with the new Marriott business card coming out in August for Chase? It has a chance of going away, so would you recommend getting the bonus now or wait for the new card?

Applied on July 29th, got 30 days message. Called reconsideration line several times, they told me to call in 10 days every time, no more info given. Called on August 8th, agent put me on hold several times, then told me I’m approved, without asking any specific questions.
I’m 9/24, no other applications in 2018. Credit score in low 800.

hello all. I currently have the Marriott rewards signature business card, that Ive had for many years now. It is my understanding that Chase/Marriott will not send a new card out and my current card automatically turns into the premier business card (in terms of features and earnings). First week of Sept I believe I get my annual free night cert, and my 15 elite night credits. I was banking on getting both, more importantly the free night, but

I want to take advantage of one of the new spg offers, either business card or luxury card before the 26th. Though I am debating if keeping this card makes sense. Can anyone suggest best strategy here and help me with these questions:

Do I need to close this card to take advantage of a new Marriott business card bonus? I think yes but want to confirm, and know if I also have to wait something like 30 days if I close this card before applying for a new one.

I am at 54 nights this year currently, which I believe puts me at platinum for next year already due to changes in the program. If not, I “will” need those 15 elite night credits to stay platinum this year without spending out of my own pocket, so I think I need to

Can I sign up for a marriott premier plus consumer card (if I am under 5/24) and have both the consumer/business card under chase AND before the 26th also get an Amex SPG business or luxury card? I currently have no amex card, but closed my only two earlier this year.

What happens with my annual free night on my current business? Am I able to book a cat1-5 property or does it go by points now (eg 35k), and does this even matter?

Really appreciate some guidance here, thanks all!

[…] Marriott Business: Even though the welcome bonus isn’t as high as it’s been in the past, it’s a great choice for many: This is one of the few Chase cards that is not subject to 5/24 rules.  Plus, since it is a business card, it won’t add to your 5/24 count.  Beginning 8/26 getting this card will limit your ability to get the welcome bonus on the SPG Luxury card.  See our Marriott Rewards Premier Business Card Page for more information about this card.
