There’s a new widely-available Amex Offer out for MGM Hotels & Resorts: Spend $250+, get either 5,000 Membership Rewards points or $50 back (depending on the card/offer). This offer has come around previously, but it’s back for a new term through January 7, 2019 — and that’s good timing since you could stack this with double Hyatt points if you’re planning to visit Las Vegas.

Quick Thoughts
Note that not all MGM hotels and resorts are included in the offer. For instance, MGM Detroit is not included in the list, and the terms do state that “all other MGM properties” are excluded. While the terms state that you must book directly with MGM to trigger the offer, bookings through Fine Hotels & Resorts have successfully triggered past offers as those are usually charged directly by the property.
If you value Membership Rewards at more than $0.01 each, that version of the offer is the stronger value. Our Reasonable Redemption Values have our expectation for Membership Rewards to be 1.82 cents (remember that those are based on a “reasonable” redemption – you can certainly do better), making the points worth around $91. Of course, they aren’t cash and may be used for more or less value depending on what you do with them. Still, I’d be happy to take the points if I had a trip to Vegas planned.
Keep in mind also that Hyatt is offering double points on MGM stays through December 29, 2018, so you can stack this offer with that one and get even more bang for your buck. As always, we have added this offer to our list of Current Amex Offers.

Nick I keep seeing Amex offers on your site. I have three Amex cards but none seem to be the ones that the offers apply to. Can you guide me as to which cards are affiliated with the Amex Deals you post regularly? I know you have a page listing the cards but there are a number of them. Thanks.
Do you know where to find Amex Offers? You log into your account online and scroll down to the bottom section where there are offers (you can click “add to card” to add one to your card). You’ll need to hit “View All” to see all of the offers on a particular card.
Assuming you know that much and just aren’t seeing a particular offer, it’s possible you just weren’t targeted. Some offers are targeted to Membership Rewards-earning cards, others to co-branded cards, some to business and others to personal, some to credit cards and others to charge cards, etc. And sometimes it’s just person to person. But the MGM offer is pretty common — I’d be surprised if you were 0/3 on that one….

Keep in mind that the ability to add an offer to multiple cards is variable these days and Amex has clawed back statement credits on one offer that people synced to multiple cards (Staples 10% back).
Thanks. No, I did not know that I had to add the deals to the cards. Thanks for that information. Occasionally, there is a deal with Amazon if one uses the reward points. I have reward points but I guess they don’t apply to the amazon deals. I have a Platinum Delta, blue and a Hilton Honors Express. I think I need to get another card that has those reward points applied. I will check out your links. Thanks again for your information on the offers.

Only got the $50 back offer on my brand-new Rose Gold card. How do I get the 5K membership points offer instead? Any trick to add the points offer instead of cash back?
Unfortunately, no. You get what you get. We only got the $50 offer on that card, too. Got the 5K offer on our Business Platinum cards.
Can this be combined with fhr booking?…haven’t checked but any good mgm hotels included in fhr?
Yup. That’s in the first paragraph under “quick thoughts” :-).
Bellagio, Delano, Aria, and The Signature are all in FHR. Delano is my pick. During off-peak times, you can sometimes get it for under $100 a night (before resort fee) — and that includes daily breakfast for two, guaranteed 4pm late checkout, and a $100 resort credit good at most of the Mandalay Bay / Delano restaurants. And Delano is all suites. Delano also gets access to the full pool at Mandalay Bay (“The Beach”) while having its own smaller pool as well.
I’ve also hotel hopped between Delano and Bellagio before because 4pm checkout means you can easily go straight from one to the other and check in. I’ve also earned Hyatt points / night credit on FHR bookings.
