Turkish still a mixed bag, but patience helps

Over the past month and a half or so since we first posted the Turkish Miles & Smiles sweet spot to Hawaii (See: 7.5K each way to Hawaii: The sweetest spot we’ve been missing and then Forget email, book Turkish awards over the phone), we’ve heard from many, many readers who booked tickets successfully, many of whom have been pretty excited about booking multiple family members to Hawaii for 15,000 miles round trip per passenger.…

Get 5-25% back at Staples via Chase Offer

There is a new round of Chase Offers going out that is good for cash back at Staples. According to Doctor of Credit, it is possible that there are different targeted versions offering higher or lower percentages back up to the same cap (from 5-25% back). The deal is good until September 15, 2019, so it’s worth syncing and waiting a couple of weeks to see if any fee-free gift card promos return (though note that…

The sweet seats on Southwest, a sweet spot from abroad, a Vegas win and more

In this weekend’s Frequent Miler week in review around the web, read about where to sit on Southwest, a niche foreign program sweet spot, a new great FHR option in Las Vegas, and more. Read on for the weekend recap: The Critical Points: Why the Last Row on Southwest Is the Best Place to Fly While I won’t go to the extreme of the last row like Richard Kerr, I will firmly concur that the…

Citi (apparently) loses transfer partner Garuda Indonesia

In reading blog posts from around the Internet for our week in review around the web post (which publishes later tonight), I came across a post from Milelion (a Singapore-based blog) saying that Citibank had lost Garuda Indonesia as a transfer partner. It isn’t uncommon for banks with a presence in multiple countries to have different transfer partners, so I wasn’t immediately sure whether this would affect US-issued cards. However, after logging in to ThankYou.com,…

In this week’s FM on the Air, see Greg and Nick discuss getting a broken award ticket reinstated, what’s up with all the Marriott changes, and where MSers can find a bright spot in the new award chart that debuts next month. One thing I neglected to note in my discussion of my AAward fiasco this week was my thanks to friends of the blog like Stefan from Rapid Travel Chai, Tiffany from One Mile…

Delta flash sale to the Caribbean (from 10K round trip)

Delta is running a flash sale on flights to the Caribbean / Latin America / Mexico, with round trip flights starting at 10,000 SkyMiles. The travel period in many cases is during hurricane season and the official travel windows are quite small, so this may not appeal to everyone. On the other hand, if you book with a credit card with decent travel protections, weather may be less of a concern than getting to palm trees…

$200 Lowe’s GC + 1K miles (maybe) for $180 via Groupon

Groupon is offering a deal to get a $200 Lowe’s Gift Card for $180. This deal works through Swych — you’ll buy a voucher through Groupon that will enable you to buy a $200 Lowe’s GC through Swych. I’m not sure whether that will be eligible for a portal payout, but if it is and you stack with the back to school portal promos, you could score over 1,000 United or American miles as well. The…

I’m actually planning to take advantage of this one myself. The Deal The Dosh app is offering an…
