Avianca LifeMiles is offering 4x miles for hotel bookings. That’s not quite as good as the time they offered 5x miles (See: [Dead] HOT deal: 5x LifeMiles with hotel bookings (30K on $390 booking), but that offer sold out in just a few hours. Today’s promotion (valid 9/11/19 only) started at 1pm and ends at 9pm CST (that’s central time) — though I doubt it will last that long. Timing on this is great as you should receive the miles for stays completed in the next two weeks in time to take advantage of the current award sale to Asia (See: LifeMiles Award Sale: Save 7-31% On Select Routes Worldwide (Plus Buy LifeMiles With Up To 145% Bonus).

  • Transactions made hotels.lifemiles.com are made with Rocketmiles and the terms and conditions of such site shall apply.

Quick Thoughts

Reader Bill passed this along to us while noting that there are some instances where you could use this sale to effectively buy miles for around (or maybe less than) one cent each. Here is one example Bill shared:

a screenshot of a hotel

As you can see, the nightly rate there is $510 per night and a one-night stay would earn 60K total miles. With taxes and fees, that’s probably right around 1 cent per mile, which is an excellent price for LifeMiles — all the better if you actually need a stay in South Miami.

With past similar offers, some folks found outliers that offered really impressive return. Keep in mind that bookings through this promotion are handled through Rocketmiles (but note that you must book through the dedicate site linked to under “The Deal”, not Rocketmiles.com), so stays most likely will not earn elite credit, points, or grant access to elite benefits. Still, the return in some instances likely washes away those benefits. Also keep in mind that a single reservation can’t earn more than 100K miles (that’s a decrease) and furthermore members are limited to 2 reservations through this promotion this time — surely a way to prevent a handful of people from claiming all of the points. This time, they are capping the promo at 5,000,000 bonus miles, at which point they will pull it. If people cap it out at 100K miles per booking, it still won’t last the entire time — though the new limits will slow down the death of the deal considerably.

I’m still traveling at the moment and haven’t yet booked my accommodations for tomorrow and Friday nights, so this deal is particularly timely for me if I can find a place where the return is great enough within the area I want to be. I’m certainly going back to searching after publishing this post.

Great find! Found some needed hotels in Baltimore in Oct for 10-20 K extra miles per night.

Not all gone, but they changed the offer during booking

Had it set up to book Hyatt Ziva for 5 nights with 52000 miles. clicked book and it changed to 24,000 and non refundable versus previously cancellable through 17th

LOL,
Nice way to run a promo.

book couple of hotels in Asia and got me a total of 200k for under 1.5k. I have had the card in the past but closed it a year ago. It still gave me the promo rate for the card. The confirmation email also clearly displays it. I full expect to receive the whole amount. a win-win-win

I booked two reservations that I needed with or without this promotion and I’m netting approximately 140k Lifemiles for $2k. Plus 13 hotel nights I needed. If you sign-up for club Lifemiles you get an enhanced bonus. There is a $9.99 per month option that you can cancel once miles post. This got me an extra 25k Lifemiles. Thank you for posting, Nick.

FYI – it took about 20 minutes until LifeMiles recognized me as a club member once I signed up.

Like looking for a needle in a haystack. W NYC Downtown $935 (what is it, like $1050 with taxes/fees?) is supposed to earn 80k… so, like buying miles with their current bonus and getting a free night. But when you go to book, it’s no longer available.

Edit: now getting the same message on the search page as @Kalboz below. Deal dead, I think.

I found a few places $137 for 16,000 miles. It’s like a hostel. I would never stay there. Wonder if it’s worth buying the points for that price.

Hal

In case you want to book it. Miles post in 3 days. Shangrila Kathmandu October dates. Just to be clear, this is not the Shangri-la chain. It’s some room with 4 beds.
I did burn some Lifemiles recently but I’m sitting on some that I don’t have a use for so not sure I want to just hold a stash.

Kalboz

This is a scam as certain locations are not showing any availability! After initially showing plenty of availability, once I signed into my LifeMiles account to finalize the reservation, bait & switch occurred!

We don’t currently have offers in Bangkok, Thailand for these specific dates.
Please change your search criteria or try again later.

Cleared the Cache, restarted the computer, and changed the dates … to the same algorithmic results!

Unfortunately, availability of this room changed when we reached out to confirm the reservation details for payment. Please select a different hotel. Click to go back

did it end already? I was searching for dates and suddenly it’s telling me that no offers for the date I selected. I tried other cities and dates, 0 search results.

InanY

What is the date for the above screenshot? I have not been able to get anywhere close to what they promise

what is ‘COBRAND & ELITE MEMBERS’ that earns 40% more. is it the cobrand LM visa card?

Nancy

If you have the Banco Popular Avianca card you qualify. I just logged in and it showed up.
