Marriott Platinum Premier 75. Should I go for it?

Given Marriott’s announced new program, I’ve been thinking a lot about different options for earning high level elite status (see this post for ideas: Marriott SPG Windows of Opportunity).  The new program has three levels of meaningful elite status: Platinum 50* (requires 50 nights per year), Platinum Premier 75 (requires 75 nights per year), and Platinum Premier 100 (requires 100 nights per year, plus $20K spend).  It has occurred to me that if one was…

Fly (semi) private on points or credits: JetBlue selling JetSuiteX seats

Yesterday, I saw that JetBlue is planning to sell seats on JetSuiteX flights. JetSuiteX is a semi-private carrier with a number of routes along the west coast. That headline made it sound as though JetBlue would be offering these flights in the future, but it goes on to note that JetBlue is already selling these seats online. Naturally, my next question was: Can you use points to fly in a semi-private jet? The answer is maybe, but not as…

However, the big surprise for me was to see that there will be several Manhattan hotels that will be bookable with the annual free night certificate from the current SPG…

These certificates can be especially good for use when there are promotions like $5/day to drive cards between the northeast…

SPG’s Off the Chart Properties, and a Map

SPG currently has 17 properties that are literally “off the charts” in that they are not priced in SPG’s standard category 1-7 award chart.  The award prices for these properties are also off the charts in the sense that they can be astronomically high.  Fortunately, when Marriott and SPG merge in August, it should be possible to book these properties at reasonable rates.  Nick covered this opportunity in-depth in his post: The huge wins in…
