Reminder: New Hyatt Place Breakfast Policy In Place; Here’s How It’s (Sort Of) Enforced

Hyatt Place breakfast

Back in June, Hyatt announced that eligibility for free breakfast at Hyatt Place properties would be changing from November 1. In the past, every guest was eligible for free breakfast, no matter whether they booked their stay directly with Hyatt or via an OTA like Expedia or Hotels.com. The change that came in on November 1 is that only World of Hyatt members who book their stay directly with Hyatt will get free breakfast. If…

Amex FHR to award 5x points…here’s when it might be worth it

American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts is a program for Amex Platinum cardholders to get enhanced benefits at certain (usually higher-end) hotels. We’ve written about the program before and compared it to the Chase Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection program (See: Chase Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection vs Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts). Amex FHR offers what I’d say is a terrific set of benefits on bookings, but those bookings have long earned only your…

That means you will not be able to get that rate on Fri/Sat nights for weekend trips, which is a bummer. Still, if you actually have Best…

When everyone is Diamond, is anyone Diamond?

Earlier in the year, when the Amex Hilton Aspire card began offering Hilton Diamond status to anyone willing to pony up the $450 annual fee, a reader commented to say “When everyone is Diamond, no one is Diamond.” I understood what he meant: the more people who have status, the less special/exclusive it is. I checked out of the Conrad Fort Lauderdale yesterday afternoon and I’ll say this: I don’t know whether it was my Diamond…

Best places to use Hyatt Category 1-4 free nights in the US

When the World of Hyatt Credit Card launched a few months ago, one of the awesome new perks is a free Category 1-4 free night after $15K spend per cardmember year. That’s in addition to the annual free night at anniversary and the points earned on your spend (which would be at least enough for a third night at a Category 4 hotel since they charge 15K points per night). At the Chicago Seminars this…
