Extra $25 back on a hotel booking via Dosh (by 8/31)

The Dosh app is offering an additional $25 cash back on a hotel booking made by 8/31/19. That is on top of the cash back you can already earn when booking through the app. You’ll of course want to compare prices, but if you’re already booking a hotel before the end of the month, this is worth a look. I’m actually planning to take advantage of this one myself. The Deal The Dosh app is offering an…

Marriott travel packages in a Peak world: good value?

When Marriott merged with SPG in August 2018, they massively increased the prices for travel packages.  Travel packages offer a way to spend a big chunk of Marriott Bonvoy points in exchange for two things: a bunch of airline miles of your choice plus a 7 night stay certificate.  The total cost in points depends upon the hotel category stay certificate you want and whether you want 50,000 or 100,000 airline miles. Marriott Cash + Points Revised. Good deal?

This morning Marriott announced several changes to Marriott Bonvoy awards (details here).  One of the changes is that they revised Points + Cash pricing for peak and off-peak awards.  I wasn’t too excited about the original plan, but how about now?  Did Marriott redeem Cash + Points?  (see what I did there?) The chart, above, shows the regular award prices (Points Only) and the Cash + Points prices.  The Cash + Points rates are the…

For better or worse (mostly worse), Marriott’s Peak and Off-Peak award pricing will begin September 14 2019.  At first glance, it doesn’t look too bad.  Category 1,2 and 3 award prices only vary 2,500 points per night from standard.  And category 4 and 5 award prices only vary 5,000 points per night from standard.  Categories 6 and 7, though, see bigger swings: 10K points per night from standard.  And category 8 jumps to 15K points…

Marriott Bonvoy Complete Guide

Marriott Bonvoy is the all-in-one rewards program which replaced Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest, and Ritz-Carlton Rewards.  Compared to other programs, in my opinion, Marriott Bonvoy offers better than average rewards for paid stays, a strong elite program (but not best overall), best-in-class options for point transfers to airline miles, a huge selection of hotels that run from very low end to ultra-luxury, and credit cards that offer good value for their annual free nights…
