Chase Offers Returning, Will Be Rolled Out To All Cards In November

Doctor of Credit reported today that Chase has issued a memo to its bankers advising that their Chase Offers scheme is being relaunched and will return in November.

Here’s an image of the memo that DoC got a copy of:

As that memo states, Chase Offers will be rolled out between November 11-19. On the positive side, it looks like the offers will be available to all personal cardholders. This is an improvement from their trials which were first made available for Marriott and Slate cardholders. Shortly after Chase Offers ended on those cards, they became available for a short period of time for Hyatt credit card holders.

Seeing as Chase hasn’t made an official announcement, we’re still light on details. Here are some questions still to be answered.

Personal cards only or business cards too?

When Chase Offers was first introduced, it was possible to load offers to both personal and business Marriott cards. The memo above suggests the new offers will only be on personal cards, but we’ll have to wait and see if business cards will indeed be excluded.

All cards or one card?

American Express recently restricted the ability to load Amex Offers so that in nearly all cases, you can only load one statement credit version of an offer and one Membership Rewards version.

Something that remains to be seen will be if Chase follows Amex’s lead, or if you’ll be able to load the offers to all your cards.

Ultimate Rewards/miles/points or statement credit?

As mentioned above, American Express sometimes offers two types of Amex Offers – one with a statement credit and one offering bonus Membership Rewards.

It’d be great to see Chase also offer deals like ‘Spend $50 at Lowe’s, get 1,000 Ultimate Rewards’. Given they didn’t offer this option when trialing Chase Offers, I doubt it’ll be offered from day one. Hopefully the program will evolve though and they’ll start offering those kinds of deals.

Gift Cards Excluded?

So long as they’re not sold by companies like Cashstar, it’s usually possible to trigger Amex Offers by purchasing gift cards.

Past Chase Offers trials often excluded gift cards, an exclusion that was sometimes enforced, sometimes not. I suspect Chase will continue trying to exclude gift card purchases, but I’d love to be proven wrong.

Any Good Offers?

I have both Marriott and Hyatt credit cards and so was able to register for both of the previous Chase Offers trials. Although I took advantage of a few offers, most of them were underwhelming. The fact that the relaunch will no longer be a trial hopefully means they’ll be able to bring new partners on board and offer a wider variety of offers.
