(EXPIRED) Citi Double Cash adds $100 signup bonus

The Citi Double Cash Card is finally offering a signup bonus: $100 cash back after making $500 in purchases within the first 3 months. As the card amounts to a 2% cash back card (1% when you make purchases + 1% when you pay your bill) with no annual fee, it has long been on our Best Offers page even without a signup bonus. It’s nice to finally see a signup bonus added to it.

The Offer

Key Terms

  • The signup bonus is not available to you if you have opened or closed a Citi Double Cash card within the past 24 months

Quick Thoughts

When it comes to fee-free simple rewards for everyday spend, a 2% cash back card has a lot of appeal. You can do better in year 1 of a Discover IT Miles card (which earns an effective 3% back after the end of the first year double-up) or the Alliant Cashback Visa (3% back the first year with the annual fee waived for year 1), but when it comes to long-term cash back with no annual fee, the Citi Double Cash card is a great option. With a signup bonus finally showing up for this card, now is a great time to consider opening it if you’re looking for a simple cash back rewards card for your wallet.

Hey Nick, just to clarify for anyone comparison shopping, the Discover It TRAVEL card earns 1.5% cash back, but the Discover It Cash Back card only earns 1% cash back on non-bonus spend (or 2% back first year, same as Citi’s Double Cash Back card).
