Daily Getaways 2019: First 3 Weeks Of Offers Announced

6

Daily Getaways is returning this year and will run from May 6 to June 7. They’ve provided a preview of the first three weeks of offers, so here’s what you can expect:

You can find a link to all these deals here. The calendar view provided above doesn’t state the cost for each package, but if you click on the individual dates (such as here for the first date) then you’ll see the different pricing options.

A lot of these packages don’t provide particularly good value, some are reasonable and a few are a little more noteworthy. In the not particularly good value column I’d place the Wyndham Rewards “deal”. Daily Getaways is charging $175 for 15,000 points which, following their recent program change, would likely only provide good value in 0.1% of cases.

The first day’s deal is to buy IHG Rewards Club points. The four different packages are being sold at 0.5cpp which is a fair value, but certainly not worth buying speculatively unless you’re short on points and have an immediate use for them. IHG somewhat frequently sells their points at 0.5cpp themselves through Points.com and at least with that option you can also earn cashback on the purchase through a shopping portal.

In the more noteworthy category I’d place Choice Privileges points. Those are being sold for as low as 0.48cpp but also as high as 0.57cpp. I’ve had some good luck booking decent quality properties for 8,000 points, so the 55,000 point package would effectively be buying stays at those types of properties for less than $40 per night.

The Reasonable Redemption Value for Choice points is 0.81cpp, so all of these packages provide better value than that.

Another good value purchase would be the Avis one day rental for $30. That won’t always be a great deal, but in many cases it’ll be a bargain if you only need a car for the day, especially seeing as it’s good on any car type up to Premium. The downside with this specific deal is that it’s limited to 500 certificates and the maximum quantity per purchase is 7. These will therefore sell out almost immediately, so they could be gone before you’ve even had a chance to click.

We’ll have further posts during the month of Daily Getaways deals to highlight some of the better value deals in more depth on the day they’re due to go on sale.

Crazy Wyndham is asking the same $ as previous yrs after butchering their program PASS.

Three nights in a Venetian Piazza suite for $650 (inclusive of tax and resort fees) seems like a pretty good deal, but I’m suspicious of the blackout days. Any sense of how extensive those might be?

Also the Loews hotels especially Miami is expensive. If you factor in the tax and fees might be worth it
