American Airlines is apparently sending out a new round of offers for AA elites to fast track to Hyatt elite.  Stephen Pepper, who has AA Executive Platinum status only because of his Hyatt status, received this email today:

Stephen, fast track to elite status with World of Hyatt

Because you are an AAdvantage® elite member, you now have an exclusive opportunity to quickly earn elite status in World of Hyatt. Here’s how it works:

  • Register by October 2, 2020
  • After registering, stay ten qualifying nights at any Hyatt hotel within 90 days of registration and you’ll enjoy World of Hyatt status through February 2022
  • Remember, as an AAdvantage® elite member with linked accounts, you’re already earning 1 AAdvantage® bonus mile for every $1 you spend on Hyatt stays. That’s on top of the World of Hyatt points you already earn as a member
  • Choose from 1,000+ locations around the globe, including brands like Park Hyatt, Thompson Hotels, Andaz and Grand Hyatt

And, upon clicking through he found that the fast track requires earning 20 elite nights within 90 days to get Globalist status through February 28, 2022:

Upon registration, the Eligible Member will have 90 days (“Qualification Period”) to achieve Explorist status through February 28, 2022 by completing ten (10) Tier-Qualifying Nights (as defined in the World of Hyatt program terms) or achieve Globalist status through February 28, 2022 by completing twenty (20) Tier-Qualifying Nights.

Those with AA status lower than Executive Platinum probably aren’t offered the option to fast track to Hyatt Globalist, but please let me know if I’m wrong about that.

Perfectly timed to foil us, but still a great time to fast track

If I did my calendar math correctly, a person who waits until October 2 to enroll would have until December 31st to complete the 20 elite nights.  Unfortunately, the key to maximizing value from the Hyatt’s double elite nights promo is to check out on January 1, 2, 3, or 4.  In other words, Hyatt smartly fixed this offer so that you can’t maximize the opportunity to earn double elite nights with the Bonus Journeys promo (see our Hyatt mattress running Q&A for details).

That said, thanks to the many overlapping Hyatt promos going on between October 1 and the end of the year, this is a great time to take advantage of the fast track if you get this offer!  You would earn up to triple points back on award nights, or triple or even quadruple points on paid nights.  Plus, you’ll get a great head start on re-qualifying for status next year.  See this post for details:  Rocking Hyatt’s overlapping promos. Top tier status is easier than ever.
