Update: This deal is back again. The maximum is 10 cards per account, which will come to exactly $1,000 with no activation or shipping fees, as shown in my screen shot below. (H/T: Dan’s Deals). The terms state it expires 1/25/20 but this will. not. last. Run, don’t walk. Keep in mind that there is also a new Amex Offer out that’s good for 10% back up to $50.
Staples.com is offering fee-free $100 Mastercard Gift Cards right now. The maximum order may be 10 cards. A reader reports a previous successful order for a quantity of 10 when this unannounced promotion happened recently, though YMMV as to how Staples enforces limits.
- Staples.com is offering fee-free $100 Mastercard gift cards (online only)
- Direct link to this deal
- Limit of 10 per account.
- The terms state that these are available while supplies last and expires on 01/25/2020, but this won’t last that long.
They have run this and other similar promotions previously a couple of times. I did successfully place an order for 10. Note that the estimated delivery date is 2 weeks away.
Speaking of reader reports, several readers have reported that these cards can be a pain to activate (sometimes requiring multiple phone calls). Keep in mind that Mastercard gift cards have been known to be more susceptible to fraudulent draining and they can be harder to liquidate. That said, if you have a system for these, fee-free is a nice deal. That is especially true if you’re paying with a card that earns one of the Best Category Bonuses at office supply stores. For example, you’d earn 5x Ultimate Rewards if paying with a Chase Ink Cash card. If you are able to buy ten of these cards, that’s an easy 5,000 UR points.
