Good Lufthansa First Class Availability From The US, But Be Careful…

A couple of weeks ago, a bunch of Lufthansa first class awards became available for booking more than 14 days out, although none of that included routes to or from US cities.

It looks like that availability might’ve expanded to include some US cities but beware – some of it might be phantom availability.

Lufthansa First Class Awards.

Lucky at One Mile At A Time has found quite a bit of availability from US cities such as Washington D.C. to Frankfurt…

…and New York to Frankfurt.

These awards can be booked through Avianca LifeMiles. They’re a transfer partner of Citi ThankYou and SPG, plus they’re offering a 125% bonus on purchased miles at the moment.

If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to create an Avianca LifeMiles account in order to search for award flights (you don’t have to have a mileage balance with them). It’s easy to filter for Lufthansa-only flights – on the initial search page, click in the ‘Smart Search’ box and select Lufthansa.

Be careful when transferring points or purchasing miles – there are several comments on the OMAAT post stating that much of this is phantom availability. There are several other comments though stating that they’ve been able to book first class awards through LifeMiles, so there’s definitely some availability.
