(EXPIRES) Hertz offering 20% off free rental day rewards (free day from 600 points)

Hertz is offering a discount on free day awards when you book between today (10/21) and Friday, 10/25/19. The discount is good for 20% off the normal award rates and is good for bookings reserved by 10/25 for pick up by 1/31/20.

The Deal

  • Use fewer points than normal to book a Hertz free rental day reward when you book from 10/21 to 10/25/19 for pick up by 1/31/20
  • Direct link to this promotion

Key Terms

  • Must reserve between 10/21/19 and 10/25/19 for pick up by 1/31/20

Quick Thoughts

Hertz went through a major overhaul of the loyalty program within the last year that brought large increases in the number of points required for free day awards. The current rates start from 750 points for 1 free “standard” award rental day (blackout dates apply to these) or 1500 points for 1 free “any day” award rental day (no blackout dates). With the sale, those rates drop to 600 “standard” or 12000 “any day”. Discounts also apply to multi-day rentals, weekly rentals, specialty rentals, one-way rentals, etc. See the promotion page for the full list of deals.

I find National’s One Two Free promotion to be much more compelling than this (especially because National’s free day awards can be used for one-way rentals, whereas Hertz requires more points for a one-way free day), but if you have Hertz points sitting around and a use in mind you would do better to use them now than wait until next week.
