Earn 500 Hyatt bonus points per night at select properties

12

Hyatt offers an extra 500 bonus points per night at select new hotels around the world. They update this list periodically with new properties and the latest batch is now available when booking stays for the next few months.

It’s always great to earn some extra points, but this one can be especially nice since it stacks with any current hotel promotions for Hyatt if you have a stay that lines up with the dates for two or more of those offers.

Quick Thoughts

At debut, there were only 9 properties participating in this deal, so it was of limited use unless you happened to be fortunate enough to have upcoming travel planned to one of those nine destinations. However, the promo has expanded over the past year or two and so the page is worth checking periodically. At one point last year there were more than 65 new properties eligible for 500 bonus points per night, but at the time of republishing this post there are only 27 new properties. New hotel locations get added to this list throughout the year, so it’s worth checking back periodically.

Furthermore, this offer is available on both paid stays and award stays, so that gives some added flexibility in how you can book if you want to take advantage of this bonus point opportunity.

While 500 extra points per night wouldn’t be enough to get me to pick one of these properties as a destination in itself, earning 500 bonus points per night might be enough to influence my booking behavior if location, price, amenities, etc. of other hotels were fairly similar.

There are several properties on here that caught my eye. The Grand Hyatt Kuwait Residences is a category 4 hotel and so is somewhere that you can redeem category 1-4 free night certificates. The reason this one caught my eye is because it looks like the base “room” is in fact an apartment with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a full kitchen, a separate area with an extra bedroom and bathroom for staff and a laundry room. All this is spread out over more than 2,300 sq ft.

Closer to home, there are some potentially interesting new properties in the US such as the new Hyatt Place Flagstaff. Flagstaff isn’t a particularly cheap place for hotel stays due to its proximity to Sedona and the Grand Canyon, so the fact that this new Hyatt Place is only a category 2 property (and so can be booked for as few as 6,500 points per night) is a great development.

I was also pleased to see the Hyatt Place St. Augustine / Vilano Beach. This is a category 3 property that we already have a reservation before this month, so we’ll be earning 500 points per night for our award stay before it looks like it’ll drop off the list at the end of January.

I’ve a feeling the dates listed as being eligible for earning the bonus points might get extended at times. The Hyatt Place Flagstaff was on the list of eligible properties last summer and is still on there today. I’m not sure if the hotel had a delayed opening and that’s why it’s still on there, or if its continued inclusion on this list is for another reason.
