Quick Deals
Prices through Google Flights start at around $520 nonstop. It’s easiest to search there and find dates that pop up at the lowest prices. Note that some days, Virgin Australia prices out a few bucks cheaper than in this example. Click the image to go to Google Flights:
Then you can head over to airfare metasearch site Momondo and plug in your dates to save a bit more (but keep in mind that some travel agencies listed through Momondo might not allow for the same cancellation policies we’re used to from major OTAs, so check terms carefully). For example, on the same dates shown above, you can fly Virgin Australia nonstop to Sydney for $477.
Simply find the city pair you like via Google Flights and then plug in the dates and cities at Momondo to compare.
While these are very long flights, the price is certainly right. You should be able to earn redeemable miles and MQMs if you take the Virgin Australia flights and credit to Delta. Keep in mind that the prices you see via Google Flights should also be available via credit card booking portals, so for example Chase Sapphire Reserve holders can book round trip flights to Australia from about 35K Ultimate Rewards points. That might make it easy for some to fly the whole family — and with wide availability from February through November, chances are good you can find a time that works for you.
