The Marriott Best Rate Guarantee (aka their Look No Further Guarantee) used to only offer 25% off the matching rate. They’ve now introduced an additional option – 5,000 Marriott Rewards Points.
To take advantage of their Look No Further Guarantee, you have to book your accommodation directly with Marriott, either on their website, by calling their telephone reservations team or visiting one of their hotels.
If you find a lower rate for the same hotel, room type and dates within 24 hours of making your reservation, complete this online claim form. When completing the form, you get to choose whether you’d like 5,000 points or 25% off the matching rate.
The Frequent Miler Fair Trading Price of Marriott Rewards points is 0.56cpp. If you value their points that same way, that makes 5,000 points worth $28.00.
For stays costing less than $112.00, you’d be better off taking the points. If it costs more than $112.00, you’d be better off taking the 25% off.
Given the average cost of Marriott brands, taking 25% off the rate is likely to be the better deal more frequently than not. Props to Marriott though for offering this additional option and enhancing their Best Rate Guarantee, especially compared to the recent negative changes to IHG’s Best Rate Guarantee.
