With the launch of the new Marriott Rewards program on August 18, it’s not surprising that they might have some systems issues along the way.
Marriott is proactively sending out warnings that outages could be somewhat extensive, with disruptions expected from August 15-19.
In typical fashion, the issues are dressed up as something good with the heading: New benefits are worth the wait.
Manage your account and reservations before planned, temporary disruptions starting August 15.
While we work to launch our new combined program on August 18, our booking and loyalty systems, sites and Mobile app will be offline for several hours intermittently between August 15 and August 19.
During this period, you may experience disruptions with:
- Contacting Member Support
- Making a new reservation
- Managing an existing reservation
- Accessing or updating your account
- Using our Mobile app
- Using points
If you need to manage your account or access upcoming reservations, please do so as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.
Rest assured: If you have planned stays, your reservations are secure.
These disruptions are in addition to the previous warning that their systems will be down much of August 18 starting at 6am ET.
As the email states, existing reservations are secure. Hopefully that also means there won’t be issues when checking in or out, but it might be best to be prepared for delays.
If you do have any stays booked over that period, it’d be worth printing off a copy of your reservation in advance, or at least having the email confirmation easily accessible seeing as you might not be able to access your account.
