Match to Mosaic

18

Last week, JetBlue announced a great promotion: if you have elite status on another airline, JetBlue will grant you a match to Mosaic status for the remainder of 2017. If you then earn 3,750 base TrueBlue points within 90 days of your match, you will receive Mosaic status throughout 2018.

The Deal

  • Match status from Delta, United, American, Southwest, Virgin, or Alaska to JetBlue’s Mosaic status for the remainder of 2017
  • Automatically register for a status challenge to keep status throughout 2018 by earning 3,750 base True Blue points within 90 days of your match

Key Terms

  • Must request your match by 11:59pm EST on August 14, 2017
  • Must have one of the following statuses: Delta® SkyMiles Medallion® Silver, Gold, Platinum or Diamond; United® MileagePlus® Premier® Silver, Gold, Platinum or Premier1K®; American Airlines® AAdvantage Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro® or AAdvantage Executive Platinum®; Southwest® Rapid Rewards® A-List Preferred or Companion Pass; Virgin America Elevate Silver or Gold; and Alaska Airlines® Mileage PlanTM MVP® Gold or MVP® Gold 75k
  • Only the 3x per dollar on the base fare of your flights counts towards earning 3750 base TrueBlue points (meaning that you’ll have to spend $1250 on base fares within 90 days of registration in order to keep Mosaic through December 31, 2018.
  • You won’t receive 15K bonus points when you are matched to Mosaic

Quick Thoughts

The key benefits of Mosaic status include:

  • No change or cancellation fees
  • Free 1st and 2nd bags for you and those traveling on your itinerary
  • Early boarding
  • An additional 3 points per dollar earning on flights (this bonus does not count towards earning the 3750 required to keep status)
  • Complimentary alcoholic beverages
  • Priority boarding
  • Expedited security

While you won’t get upgrades to Mint class, the benefits of status could still be quite valuable if you fly JetBlue often. If you have a family vacation coming up on JetBlue, the savings on bag fees could make this a very attractive offer, and the flexibility of no change or cancel fees is one of the benefits I value the most highly in an airline loyalty program.

If you are eligible, be sure to time out your request as you’ll have 90 days from registration to earn enough points to keep status through 2018. You will want to make sure that your travel plans line up within that 90-day window if you’re looking to keep status beyond this year.

[…] Match to Mosaic (Expires 8/14/17) […]

Frank

How long does it take to get matched? I applied the day you posted this and …. nothing. How can I tell when I am approved?

Hank

Does paying for flights with JetBlue points count towards the challenge spending requirement?

king king

Mosaic also include free same day changes, you dont need to pay for fare difference for the same day changes.

Book a cheap flight for the day and get ur convenient flight 24hrs before the departure time , provided ur convenient flight has seats.

Jessica

I would like to know how I could further parlay this into other statuses. I have the companion pass now. Anyway to keep getting matches so that I have status for the next few years

Hal

The only times I’ve ever flown Jetblue is on Mint. But since I don’t live on the coasts, it’s very infrequent. But this is a great deal for anyone on the coasts. I would love free cancellation on the Mint flights.

Jacinto

Must have one of the following statuses:
Delta® SkyMiles Medallion® Silver, Gold, Platinum or Diamond;
United® MileagePlus® Premier® Silver, Gold, Platinum or Premier1K®; American Airlines® AAdvantage Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro® or AAdvantage Executive Platinum®;
Southwest® Rapid Rewards® A-List Preferred or Companion Pass; Virgin America Elevate Silver or Gold;
and Alaska Airlines® Mileage PlanTM MVP® Gold or MVP® Gold 75k

Which is the easiest of the above airline status to get, based on credit cards, spending, or hotel status?

Thanks

No change fees for your reservations only? How about reservations for others made with your points?

Mike

As long as you are also on the reservation then it applies to others.

al613

Other airlines have no fees for ANY reservation made with your points for top status members. No matter if you are on it or not. Its a great benefit when you book for others.

Its for all the people in the same itinerary

I matched the day this offer was available using my SWCP. Only took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get the match. Was just approved for the JetBlue Plus card and will have it tomorrow. Will not fly to get the 3750 base points for Mosaic thru 2018 which will cost $1250. Will put 50K spend on card before end of year @ grocery store that gives me 100K miles + 15K bonus for Mosaic. Fee for $50K spend will be under $600 and will utilize coupons & gas rewards bonuses for positive return. I’ve matched to Mosaic two times previously and really like JetBlue. No charge cancellation and extra legroom offers are awesome.

You wont get 15k bonus points , if u reach mosaic thru credit card spend.

Nick – any downside to doing the Match – like once per lifetime? Thanks.

David

My suggestion is to always match if you have the opportunity. You might not use the status for a flight but you might be able to use the status to match to another program.
