These deals at Meijer can be great value. Amazon gift cards are always excluded, but lots of other high value gift card brands like Best Buy, Home Depot, Disney, Lowe’s and eBay are eligible.

You can take advantage of this deal up to 10 times, so you can earn $50 in rewards when spending the full $500. That can be a great way to rack up some bonused spend on a card that earns more at grocery stores or to help meet the minimum spend requirement for a new non-Amex card.

The $5 rewards are usually loaded to your account within a couple of hours, but it’s sometimes quicker than that. When I was near a Meijer store last year, I bought some gift cards when I first arrived, then did my grocery shop after. The rewards had been loaded to my account by the time I got to the checkout, so I was able to use them on that shop rather than having to come back another time.

Something important to be aware of when redeeming the rewards is that you lose any partially redeemed awards. It’s therefore only worth redeeming awards when each full $5 will offset your shopping bill and save any remaining awards for a future trip.
