Safeway, Albertsons et al aren’t the only ones with new profitable gift card offers today. Meijer has released a couple of new digital coupons offering savings on Visa gift cards and Happy gift cards.

Quick Thoughts
Similar to the Mastercard deal at Safeway, this Visa gift card deal at Meijer is instantly profitable. The Meijer stores I’ve visited in the past had variable load Visa gift cards and this digital coupon should work on those. With a $5.95 activation fee, you’ll instantly make a profit of $4.05 before taking into account credit card rewards.
The Happy gift card deal also has the potential to be profitable. Some brands of Happy gift cards can be used to buy third party gift cards at other stores like Bed Bath & Beyond, JCPenney and more. The problem with this is that many (or all) of those stores are closed right now and even if they were open, it would be best to not visit them due to COVID-19. There’s no knowing when that will change, so it’s probably only worth taking advantage of the Happy gift card offer if you’ll be able to make use of it for personal use, perhaps at eligible restaurants.

Meijer is a grocery store, so most people will already be going there to buy food, so picking up a Visa gift card while you’re there puts no one at additional risk.
As noted in the post, I recommended against buying Happy gift cards unless you were able to use them without putting yourself or anyone else at risk.
I shop regularly at Meijer for groceries and I did not know about this deal, so now I will use it before the end of March while Discover still has their 5% bonus category on grocery stores (which includes Meijer).
