New Alaska Business 40K offer

The Alaska Airlines Business Visa card is now offering 40,000 miles plus a $99 companion fare after spending $2,000 in the first 90 days. Since Alaska miles are among the most valuable airline miles out there, it’s great to see an increased offer on this card.

FM Mini Review: Alaska miles are quite valuable so this offer is better than it appears

Noteworthy perks: ⚬ $121+ coach companion pass every year

Quick Thoughts

I’ve previously written about the awesome Alaska Companion Fare, which I think is one of the most underrated credit card benefits around considering how flexible it is and that both passengers earn 1 mile per mile flown.

Furthermore, Alaska has both a really nicely priced set of award charts and one of the best sweet spots around (See: Free stopovers on one-way awards w/ Alaska [Sweet-spot spotlight]).Earning more miles for the intro bonus on this card is a win in my book, even if Bank of America has made a marked departure from the days when one could open the card multiple times without even closing the other cards. Keep in mind that BOA now has a 2/3/4 rule whereby you will not be approved for more than 2 cards in 60 days, 3 cards in 12 months, or 4 cards in 2 years from Bank of America.

It’s also worth noting that anecdotally, it seems BOA has tightened up on business card approvals. I’ve heard more and more stories of people being asked for business documentation / tax returns and/or to open a CD in order to open an Alaska business card. The same happened to my wife more than a year ago when she tried to apply for one. She has a number of business cards from other banks and hadn’t ever been asked to open something like a CD, so she simply declined to move forward with BOA. That’s not to say that people aren’t regularly approved for the card – I’m sure they are.

Overall, this is a nice, valuable offer that is definitely worth considering for those eligible. Click the card name under “The Offer” to go to our Bank of America Alaska Airlines Business Visa card page to learn more about the card and find an application link.

Any idea how long this offer will be good for? I have to wait until April 1 to get back to BoA 3/24.
