Nice discount on Alamo rental cars at 1pm 4/23

1

Monday, April 23rd at 1pm Eastern time, Daily Getaways will offer a solid deal: Get a $50 Alamo Rental Car certificate for $25. As noted in our Daily Getaways 2018 Guide, this discount can be stacked with 5% off for Alamo Insiders and you can actually save a bit more than $25 since taxes will also be proportionally lower. These certificates can be especially good for use when there are promotions like $5/day to drive cards between the northeast and Florida or other routes where cars are repositioned between seasons as you can get a lot of mileage in terms of rental days.

Quick Thoughts

For a brief rundown of all of this years Daily Getaways deals, see our Frequent Miler quick reference guide to the Daily Getaways 2018:

This deal looks pretty good if you anticipate renting from Alamo. Keep in mind that the certificate won’t apply to taxes and fees, though it will reduce your taxes proportionally, so the savings could actually be a bit more than $25. You can use up to 3 certificates per rental, meaning that you can save close to half on rentals of $50, $100, or $150. I often find Alamo to have pretty competitive pricing, so this discount looks pretty good to me. It can even be stacked with 5% off for those who join Alamo Insiders. Also keep in mind that many credit cards require that you pay the entire cost of the rental on your card in order to qualify for insurance with the card, so you may be forfeiting that when using certificates. While it’s not common to need your card’s rental car insurance, Stephen Pepper recently outlined an experience where it sure came in handy for him: My Experience Using Chase Sapphire Reserve Rental Car Insurance.

I expect that this one will be fairly popular and will thus sell out. Since there are 2,000 packages and a max purchase quantity of 3, you stand a fighting chance at getting this one, but I wouldn’t expect it to last for a long time. It goes live about 1 hour after this post publishes, starting at 1pm Eastern time 4/23/18, so be ready if you’re interested.
