I can’t tell… is this single use only or can it be used multiple times?

iahphx

@veeRob — Only way we’ll know is when somebody tries it. Of course, there’s probably little to stop you from opening multiple accounts. You’re likely to want to book each night individually anyway. Obviously, the best deal is if is to find a hotel that’s just barely over $100. Rinse and repeat.

Anil

Yes, I did. It can be used multiple times from the same account.

Anil

Thank you. Perfect timing for my booking at a historical place where there are no hotel chains available.

iahphx

@Anil — where? There are LOTS of “historical places” in this world without chain hotels where this deal is completely useless.

Jason

Madrid had some pretty good options…booked a 3 star night in central with breakfast for $56 + tax.
Most cities outside of USA will have some good options with this deal if you do some homework.

iahphx

I tried Rome and some other Italian cities and was very underwhelmed with the offerings (and prices).

And if I’m going to have to book it night-by-night, I want a really nice hotel!

Anil

@iahphx – Sorry, missed to mention. The place is called Hampi(meaning Champion), its part of southern India. If you like historical places and you are visiting South India anytime in future, please do plan to visit this place. The other place would be Mysore, the city of palaces.

[…] by 12/31 (but you should probably "look and book" ASAP). FrequentMiler has the deal. http://frequentmiler.boardingarea.co…omment-1481940 I've commented there about the limitations of this offer. Your odds of finding a "promo […]

BTW, am I correct that there’s no way, when you do a search, to weed out the 90% of listings that aren’t “promo eligible” to see if anything decent might work?

iahphx

This should be a better deal that it actually is. First, Orbitz has limited listings at, generally, high prices. Second, you have to find a “promo eligible” hotel. That’s extremely difficult in the USA because you pretty much need an independent hotel (non-chain) and few of these — except the WORST motels — are listed on Orbitz.

Slightly better odds overseas, but still slim pickings. This will certainly work for somebody, somewhere — and will be of more use to folks who don’t have access to award night stay alternatives — but it’s just one out of a dozen possible strategies to secure a good hotel booking. I’d guess that, 11 out of 12 times, there’s a better option for sophisticated travelers (aka, your readers).
